The OISC protects customers by setting robust standards for registration, ensuring advisers are fit and competent and act in the best interests of their clients. Improving safety and decreasing violence is an urgent priority for the Government.</p><p> </p><p>Earlier in October the Justice Secretary announced that funding of £14million will be given to 10 prisons with some of the highest rates of violence. However, as part of our probation reforms, all offenders get targeted support when they leave prison to help them reintegrate into society. This includes working with local partners to help them find accommodation.</p><p> </p><p>Up until 2014/15 prisons were responsible for collecting information on accommodation outcomes for prisoners on release. The figures are based on prisoners self-reporting. Figures for the percentage of prisoners released into settled accommodation for the financial years 2010-11 to 2014-15 are published on gov.uk.</p><p> </p><p>From 1 May 2015 Community Rehabilitation Companies became responsible for helping offenders obtain suitable accommodation as part of their Through the Gate resettlement services. Where domestic violence is an issue in the family court, judges follow guidance in Practice Direction 12J. This guidance makes clear that where violence or abuse is admitted or proven, any child arrangements order must protect the safety and wellbeing of the child and the parent with whom the child is living, and must not expose them to the risk of further harm. A number of recent measures have been taken to strengthen and clarify the family court’s response to issues of domestic violence.</ins></p><br /><p><ins class="ministerial">Where criminal and <a href="http://www.cps.gov.uk/publications/prosecution/domestic/domv.html#a10" target="_blank">civil proceedings</a> are taking place at the same time, prosecutors will ensure that the court has the appropriate information to enable them to make other orders that prioritise the safety of victims, children and young people.</ins></p><br /><p><ins class="ministerial">Guidance to the family court makes clear that if domestic violence is alleged, the court must take this is into account when making decisions about contact with a child and the welfare of the child is of paramount importance.</ins></p><p><br /><ins class="ministerial"> Her Majesty’s Courts &amp; Tribunal Services (HMCTS) are constantly looking for ways to improve the service that they offer to victims and witnesses.
