answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/05/2014 answer text <p> </p><p> </p><p>The number of defendants proceeded against at magistrates' courts for offences relating to installing or using a television receiver without the appropriate licence, per 10,000 of the population in England and Wales for the years 2010 to 2012 is shown in Table 1 below. Criminal Justice Statistics in Northern Ireland are a matter for the Department of Justice in Northern Ireland, which the Member will need to contact directly.</p><p> </p><p>The offence of using a TV receiver without a valid licence carries a maximum penalty of a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale (£1,000).
