answer text <p>On 1 January 2021 the United Kingdom introduced its own Generalised Scheme of Preferences that provides duty-free, quota-free access to the United Kingdom’s market for more than thirty African countries and tariff reductions for other eligible African countries. This year we will launch improvements to the scheme, which will offer the lowest income countries improved terms when trading with the United Kingdom.</p><p> </p><p>The United Kingdom has also secured eight Free Trade Agreements with African regions and countries including the Southern African Customs Union and Mozambique; Eastern and other Southern African states; Cote d’Ivoire; Cameroon, Egypt, Kenya, Morocco and Tunisia.</p><p> </p><p>The Department has launched an online investment platform for African projects and the Africa Investment Group, which brings together investors and representatives of the United Kingdom’s Government, to drive collectively more investment flows into Africa.</p> more like this

The Department for International Trade is seeking to work with our trading partners to increase women’s ability to fully access the benefits of these agreements.</p><p> </p><p>The inclusion of Women’s Economic Empowerment provisions in trade agreements features in the Government’s manifesto as part of our broader agenda for ‘free and fair trade’ as well as in our public negotiation objectives for the Australia and New Zealand agreements, published on 17<sup>th</sup> June. answer text <p>The UK-Africa Investment Summit brought together businesses, governments and international institutions to showcase and promote the breadth and quality of investment opportunities across Africa.</p><p>At the Summit, we announced the Trade Connect programme, which will help developing countries, benefit from the UK’s post-Brexit preferential trade arrangements by providing £20 million over 5 years to assist businesses to export more.</p><p>Through the Taxation (Cross-border Trade) Act 2018, the UK intends to put in place a trade preference scheme that maintains the preferential market access we currently offer to 35 African developing countries trading under the EU’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP).</p><p>We are also rolling over the EU’s Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) and Association Agreements (AAs). We have signed trade agreements with eleven African countries and are seeking to conclude agreements with a further seven countries.</p><p>We will work with African partners to deepen and widen our existing trade agreements and make the UK’s preference scheme work better for them.</p>
