answer text <p>HM Government publishes Official Statistics on GOV.UK on a quarterly and annual basis on export licences granted, refused and revoked to all destinations. These reports contain detailed information including the overall value, type (e.g. Military, Other) and a summary of the items covered by these licences. This information is available at: <a href="http://www.gov.uk/government/collections/strategic-export-controls-licensing-data" target="_blank">gov.uk/government/collections/strategic-export-controls-licensing-data</a> and the most recent publication was on 13<sup>th</sup> April 2021, covering the period 1<sup>st</sup> October to 31<sup>st</sup> December 2020.</p><p> </p><p>Two Standard Individual Export Licences (SIELs) were granted for military rated items to Ethiopia between July and December 2020 and no other licences were granted in the six months prior to this period.</p><p> </p><p>Information on licences granted between 1<sup>st</sup> January to 31<sup>st</sup> March 2021 will be published as Official Statistics on 13th July 2021; and for licences granted from 1<sup>st</sup> April to 30<sup>th</sup> June 2021, information will be published in October 2021.</p><p> </p><p>All export licence applications are assessed against the Consolidated EU and National Arms Export Licensing Criteria (the ‘Consolidated Criteria’). HM Government will not grant an export licence if to do so would be inconsistent with the Consolidated Criteria.</p>

answer text <p>My noble Friend Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne was appointed Trade Envoy in July 2017 to Kazakhstan and in October 2020 the Hon. Member for Shrewsbury and Atcham, Daniel Kawczynski, was appointed Trade Envoy to Mongolia. There are no plans to appoint a Trade Envoy to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan or Afghanistan.</p><p> </p><p>My Rt Hon. Friend the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoys are drawn from both Houses and across the political spectrum. They are chosen based on relevant skills and experience required to undertake the role. This experience can be related to their assigned market or UK industry knowledge, or their Government-to-Government experience, as well as willingness and an ability to undertake some international travel. Trade Envoys are appointed by the Prime Minister, usually following a recommendation by my Rt Hon. Friend the Secretary of State for International Trade.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK is a leading foreign investment destination; second in the world for inward Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) stocks with $2.1 trillion, behind the USA in 2019. DIT analysis of Office for National Statistics data shows that in 2018 foreign owned firms were on average 72% more productive than domestic only firms.</p><p> </p><p>In 2019/20 the Department for International Trade provided support for 1,449 FDI projects, creating almost 45,000 new jobs and safeguarding a further 8,000. In November 2020, the Prime Minister announced a new Office for Investment within the Department but under the sponsorship of Downing Street to support strategic investment. We are also prioritising regional investment and growth through our High Potential Opportunities Programme.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Policy responsibility for the GREAT Britain and Northern Ireland campaign (GREAT) transferred from the Department for International Trade (DIT) to the Cabinet Office via a Written Ministerial Statement laid in Parliament on 20 April. The Prime Minister requested that GREAT was moved to the Cabinet Office. GREAT can play an enhanced role at the heart of government rather than within a specific department.</p><p> </p><p>The headcount of 13.5 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) employees has been transferred from DIT to the Cabinet Office. The total GREAT campaign budget agreed at the 2020 Spending Review for FY21/22 is £60 million. £30 million of this budget was transferred from DIT to Cabinet Office in Main Supply Estimates. The remaining £30 million will remain with the other contributing government departments until Supplementary Estimates. At this point, the necessary transfers to other government departments for the funding allocations agreed by the GREAT Programme Board will be made. No other resources are being transferred.</p><p> </p><p>The GREAT team’s line management structures have transferred over to the Cabinet Office, and all of the team continue to report into the Director of the GREAT Britain campaign. No commercial contracts are being transferred.</p>

answer text <p>The United Kingdom has been trading on Most Favoured Nation (MNF) terms with Serbia since the 1<sup>st</sup> January 2021. Prior to this imports of frozen fruit from Serbia had been eligible for tariff free access to the UK.</p><p> </p><p>Overseas trade data is only available for the first two months of 2021, but the UK has imported approximately £350,000 of frozen fruits from Serbia in this period. Estimated additional duties paid on these imports are approximately £40,000.</p><p> </p><p>Signature of the UK-Serbia continuity agreement is expected imminently, which would remove future MFN duties on imports of frozen fruit from Serbia.</p> more like this
