answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/09/2019 answer text <p>As the Secretary of State said in her statement to Parliament on 26<sup>th</sup> September, as soon as the issue was brought to her attention on the 12<sup>th</sup> September, she took immediate action:</p><ul><li>Taking immediate steps to inform the Court and Parliament;</li><li>Putting in place immediate, interim procedures to make sure the error could not happen again;</li><li>Instigating a complete and full internal review of all licences granted for Saudi Arabia and its Coalition partners since 20 June;</li><li>Asking the Permanent Secretary to commission, on her behalf, a full independent investigation.</li></ul><p>This investigation will: (i) establish the precise circumstances in which these licences were granted; (ii) establish whether any other licences have been granted in breach of the Undertaking to the Court or the commitment to Parliament; and (iii) confirm that procedures are in place to ensure that no further such breaches can occur. The Director General Policy Group at the Department for Work and Pensions has been appointed to lead this investigation.</p><p> </p><p>During the course of this investigation, licence applications for Saudi Arabia and its Coalition partners will be referred to a new weekly meeting of senior officials from DIT, FCO and MOD. (Some will have been refused by this point, for example where they fail to meet one or more of the Consolidated Criteria.) This meeting will reach a recommendation for Ministers as to whether applications are within the scope of the Undertaking and the Parliamentary Statement, applying a further checklist of questions which are designed to ensure that: (i) current and full information is available to enable an assessment of whether the items in question are for possible use in the conflict in Yemen; and (ii) if there has been any change in circumstances in the conflict in Yemen, this is properly included in the assessment. We disagree with the judgment and are seeking permission to appeal. While we do this, we will not grant any new licences for exports to Saudi Arabia and its coalition partners (UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain and Egypt) for possible use in the conflict in Yemen.</p><p> </p><p>Extant licences are not immediately affected by this judgment but decisions about these licences are remitted to the Government to reconsider in the light of the judgment. The Campaign Against Arms Trade did not seek an Order to suspend licences and the Court has not ordered their suspension. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/07/2019 answer text <p>Details of military rated licences that were extant as at 5 July 2019 and were granted prior to 31 December 2018 have been deposited in the libraries of the House.</p><p> </p><p>The spreadsheet deposited includes the value of each licence at the time it was granted, but we cannot provide an estimate of total values for licences that are still valid, as some of these will have been partially used. Some Standard Individual Export Licence (SIEL) value data includes data relating to a number of non-military rated items or items that do not require an export licence, which were included on the respective licence application.</p><p> </p><p>Information about licences granted from 1 January 2019 onwards have not, as yet, been published as official statistics on GOV.UK and therefore cannot be disclosed. The data currently published on GOV.UK covers licences where a decision was made prior to 1 January 2019, with details of each licence correct as at 15 March 2019.</p><p> </p><p>Information from the period 1 January 2019 to 31 March 2019 will be published on 16 July 2019 and data covering the period 1 April 2019 to 30 June 2019 will be published in October 2019.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is carefully considering the implications of the Court of Appeal Judgment for decision making. As part of this work we will be determining whether licences would need to be reconsidered.
