Negotiating teams will be led by a Department for International Trade (DIT) chief negotiator and will include experts from other departments and arm’s length bodies. Typically, a trade negotiation will involve teams of differing sizes and expertise depending on their complexity and the interests of the UK and our partners.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for International Development’s Trade for Development Team are co-located within DIT and the two departments have worked closely together to deliver continuity agreements over the past year. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/01/2020 answer text <p>As we prepare to leave the EU our priority has been the roll over of existing EU trade agreements.</p><p>As we prepare to have our own independent trade policy for the first time in over four decades our ambition for our country is to secure free trade agreements (FTA) with countries covering 80% of UK trade within three years of leaving the EU.</p><p>The United States, Australia, New Zealand and Japan are highly developed and likeminded economies. They are free market democracies and allies. The government has a manifesto commitment to have free trade agreements with countries covering 80% of UK trade within 3 years of leaving the EU. This includes negotiating FTAs with the US, Australia, New Zealand and Japan in parallel to negotiations with the EU. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/11/2019 answer text <p>Our priority is to be in a position to begin negotiations with our key partners as soon after we leave the EU as possible.</p><p><strong><em> </em></strong></p><p>We will prioritise negotiating trade agreements with our close friends and likeminded allies: the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, as well as considering accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).</p><p><strong><em> </em></strong></p><p>We continue to build stronger bilateral trading relationships through dialogue and engagement with partners. We are also assessing options for future trading arrangements, this includes the Mercosur bloc and its members. The UK already participates in WTO negotiations as part of the EU. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/09/2019 answer text <p>The Government is committed to leaving the EU on 31<sup>st</sup> October and is seeking a new deal with the EU. At this late stage, we believe that it is still possible for the UK to leave the EU with a deal and will work to make this happen.</p><p> </p><p>We have been making preparations in the event we choose to leave the EU without a deal. To date, the UK has signed or agreed in principle agreements with countries that account for 64% of the UK’s trade with all the countries with which the UK is seeking continuity in the event of a potential No Deal. That has moved from 28% since March.
