answer text <p>Since the latest crisis began in August 2017, the UK has provided a total of £150,945,580 to support Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh in all major sectors, including protection, shelter, site management, education, health, nutrition, water and sanitation. We provided £51,073,763 in 2017, £62,772,680 in 2018 and £37,099,137 up to the end of August 2019. We will remain a leading donor to the humanitarian response and will announce new funding imminently.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK is a leading donor to the Rohingya refugee response in Bangladesh. We estimate that UK-funded assistance provided since August 2017 has reached most of the 1.3 million refugees and vulnerable host community members targeted by the international humanitarian Joint Response Plan. Our aid is making a significant difference to the lives of the refugees and we are providing assistance in all major sectors, including food security and nutrition, shelter, health, protection (including gender-based violence), site management, water, hygiene promotion and sanitation.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK is a leading donor to the humanitarian response in Bangladesh for the Rohingya people having committed £59m so far, which includes support for work regarding cyclone and monsoon preparation. This specifically consists of £3m for a joint UN project, which aims to ensure road access is maintained and improved, camp infrastructure is strengthened to be more resilient to flooding and landslides, and newly allocated land for relocations is being made safer for refugees. The UK has also allocated £1.5m to strengthen shelters and community flood awareness and preparedness.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We recognise the immediate need to increase the provision of protection services in the Rohingya refugee camps. DFID is leading the way in supporting a range of organisations providing specialised help to survivors of sexual violence. We are supporting 25 women’s centres, which are providing safe space, psychosocial support and activities to women and girls. We are also funding case management for over 2,000 survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Following a diphtheria outbreak in the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh the UK Emergency Medical Team (EMT) was deployed for six weeks from late December 2017 to early February 2018.</p><p> </p><p>A 40 strong team of medical professionals, including doctors, nurses and paramedics helped more than 3,000 Rohingya. Almost 500 people were treated for diphtheria and if not for British help, many could have died. DFID also provided £2 million to vaccinate children against diphtheria.</p><p> </p><p>With the outbreak now under control, UK teams have built capacity and handed over to local Bangladeshi health professionals to complete the diphtheria response.</p> more like this
