Adolescent girls are amongst the target group.</p><p>By December 2019, 377,003 children had been reached with protective services under phase one and two of the programme. Disaggregated data on sex was not available for phase one and not available for adolescence age in both phases. We also estimate 100,000 coronavirus cases, which are quickly overwhelming Yemen’s depleted healthcare system. The UK recently pledged £160m to support Yemen, bringing our contribution to almost £1bn since 2015. Ultimately, the crisis must be addressed through a political settlement. More than 20 million people in Yemen do not have reliable access to food and almost 10 million people face extreme food shortages.</p><p>The UK is increasingly concerned by the constraints placed on the international humanitarian response in Houthi-controlled areas of northern Yemen. More than 20 million people in Yemen do not have reliable access to food and almost 10 million people face extreme food shortages.</p><p> </p><p>The UK is providing £200 million in response to this humanitarian crisis this financial year, bringing the total UK commitment to Yemen to £770 million since the conflict began in 2015. Before the conflict, an estimated 80% of these imports entered Yemen through the critical Red Sea ports of Hodeidah and Saleef.</p><p>We are unable to provide a more direct response given the difficulty of obtaining specific data from Yemen.</p><p>We welcome the redeployment of Houthi forces away from these ports. DFID’s <a href="https://www.gov.uk/guidance/work-and-opportunities-for-women" target="_blank">Work and Opportunities for Women</a> is advising British multinational companies to secure better paid and secure work for 400,000 women in global supply chains. Our co-financing of the G20 <a href="https://we-fi.org/" target="_blank">Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative </a> will help reach 115,000 women entrepreneurs in developing countries and mobilise additional public and private sector resources of $2.6 billion.
