answer text
The 2025 timeline delivers on our net zero commitments, while ensuring that new homes are delivered in sufficient numbers in the places that we need them, providing the good quality, warm homes that consumers expect, and continuing to keep energy bills low.

However, we are not waiting until 2025 to take action. In the short term, we will be implementing an interim 2021 Part L uplift for new homes as swiftly as possible. This is a key stepping stone that will enable us to successfully implement the Future Homes Standard.

We have also listened to calls for a swifter and more certain pathway to 2025 and our work on a full technical specification for the Future Homes Standard has been accelerated. We therefore intend to consult on this in 2023 and introduce the necessary legislation in 2024, ahead of full implementation of the Future Homes Standard in 2025.
more like this

answer text
Between 2011 and 2016, the Government provided a total of £1.76 billion between 2011 and 2016 to 45 councils across England with more than 10 percent non-decent stock to help them bring homes up to standard and tackle their backlog. It helped to make over 158,000 homes decent.

The Social Housing White Paper committed to review the Decent Homes Standard to consider if it should be updated. The Review is in two stages, with the first step considering the case for change. If the evidence demonstrates that we need to revise the Standard, we will consider the strategic, economic and management case for new criteria as a second stage of the review.
more like this

answer text
Evidence gathered will help government work out the best way to raise accessibility standards and we will respond the consultation – once we’ve had the time to give full consideration to the responses received.

However, most homes were built before standards were introduced; this is why the Disabled Facilities Grant is so important. By the end of this financial year, the Government will have invested over £4 billion through the Disabled Facilities Grant, funding home adaptations – including stair lifts, wet rooms and ramps - to almost 450,000 homes since 2010.
more like this
