is not targeted at any particular faith or social grouping, but is based on our assessment
of an organisation's concern in terrorism. Over 60 organisations are currently proscribed
including 14 organisations connected to Northern Ireland and organisations seeking
to advance a variety of other religious, ethnic, political and nationalist causes.<br><br>The
Extremism Task Force, which was set up by the Prime Minister following the murder
of Drummer Lee Rigby, looked closely at whether the government was doing all it could
to confront extremism and radicalisation It concluded that it is often too easy for
extremist preachers and groups to spread extremist views which can lead people into
terrorism. The Government is therefore considering the case for new powers to ban
groups which seek to undermine democracy or use hate speech.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>
