answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/01/2020 answer text <p>The Home Office is committed to ensuring that asylum claims are considered without unnecessary delay, to ensure that individuals who need protection are granted asylum as soon as possible and can start to integrate and rebuild their lives, including those granted at appeal.</p><p>Whilst we take steps to increase capacity and focus on process improvements to deliver better quality decisions more efficiently, we have moved away from the 6-month service standard to concentrate on older claims, cases with acute vulnerability and those in receipt of the greatest level of support, including Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). In the year ending March 2019, Action Fraud recorded on average almost 26,000 calls and online reports of fraud and cyber-crimes every month (ONS, 2019). Official figures show reports of cyber crime and fraud have trebled since Action Fraud was set up in 2013.</p><p>The Government is undertaking a Serious and Organised Crime (SOC) review led by Sir Craig Mackey QPM. The review will cover the powers, capabilities, governance and effectiveness of funding across the policing and law enforcement landscape, and will make recommendations that should be delivered through the 2020 spending review to strengthen the SOC system.</p><p>All Action Fraud reports are passed on to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) within the City of London Police, who are responsible for reviewing and allocating intelligence packages to forces for investigation. Neither Action Fraud or NFIB have any investigatory powers and do not conduct fraud investigations themselves. The role of investigation and enforcement remains with local police forces</p><p>The Home Office does not hold information on the proportion of cases handled by Action Fraud that are disseminated to police forces for investigation. However, data on the number of fraud cases disseminated by the NFIB to police forces and also the number of fraud outcomes recorded by the police are published annually as part of the Home Office’s ‘Crime Outcomes in England and Wales’ publication. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/01/2020 answer text <p>The Home Office’s intention is that EU citizens granted status under the EU settlement scheme will evidence their status and entitlements through digital means via online services. This will provide a simpler and more secure means to establish a person’s status and there are no plans to provide EU citizens with physical documents for this purpose.</p><p>The law is clear that employers and landlords should not discriminate when conducting statutory right to work and right to rent checks, and this is reinforced in statutory codes of practice issued by the Home Office.</p><p>EU citizens will be required to use the online service to evidence that they have status under the scheme when moving jobs or accommodation after the new immigration system is introduced. In the meantime, they can continue to rely on their national passports or identity documents. Anyone who believes that they have been discriminated against, either directly or indirectly, by an employer, or landlord, because of their race may bring a complaint before an Employment Tribunal, or an Industrial Tribunal in Northern Ireland.</p><p>“Race” is one of the protected characteristics in the Equality Act 2010 and the legal term incorporates colour, nationality or ethnic or national origins. When we consider the risk of discrimination by employers and landlords towards foreign nationals in the context of right to work and right to rent checks, race is the relevant protected characteristics we’re focusing on. Moreover, the Home Office has issued two statutory codes of practice for employers and landlords under the Immigration Acts setting out how they should avoid committing acts of unlawful race discrimination when conducting right to work and right to rent checks. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/01/2020 answer text <p>Rape and sexual violence are devastating crimes and the Government is committed to ensuring that every victim has access to the specialist support they need. We expect every report of sexual violence and rape to be treated seriously from the time it is reported, every victim to be treated with dignity, and every investigation and prosecution to be conducted thoroughly and professionally.</p><p>We are deeply concerned by drops in criminal justice outcomes for rape cases, which is why we are conducting a thorough end-to-end review into the criminal justice response to rape. This review will inform a cross-system Action Plan which will seek to reverse this trend and we have committed to publish this later this year.</p><p>The Government is providing £32 million in funding until 2022. This includes £4 million for rape support centres, and £1 million for recruiting more Independent Sexual Violence Advisers. This additional funding forms part of a Rape Victims’ Pledge to make rape victims’ engagement with the criminal justice system simpler and less distressing through providing targeted information and support.</p><p>Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) areas with Government-funded male support centres have nearly quadrupled from 11 in 2018/19 to 41 from 2019/20. This support is in addition to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) funded National Male Rape support helpline (Safeline) and Male Rape Support webchat service (Survivors UK).
