Applicants under the age of 10 are not subject to the automated criminal record check.</p><p>The suitability requirements for the scheme apply to all applicants under the age of 18. Tough enforcement is a fundamental part of our drug strategy. The possession of any amount of a controlled drug is a criminal offence and the supply of a controlled drug is an even more serious offence. Irritant sprays are thoroughly tested before they can be adopted for use by law enforcement.</p><p>CS spray has been approved for police use in the UK following robust medical assessment by the Department of Health Committee on Toxicity.
