Over 220 children were transferred to the UK under section 67 when the Calais camp was cleared in late 2016. Since then we have been making further progress with the three participating States – France, Greece, and Italy – to refer and transfer more eligible children to move closer to the commitment to transfer 480 children.</p><p>The UK is at the forefront in protecting children affected by the migration crisis. Section 67 is one of a number of schemes that offer a safe and legal route to the UK for the most vulnerable refugees. However, a responsible government must plan for every eventuality, including a no deal scenario.</p><p>As laid out in the policy paper ‘Immigration from 31 October 2019, if there is no deal’ published on the 28 January 2019, if the UK leaves the EU without a deal there will be a transition period, once free movement has ended and before the UK’s new skills-based immigration system begins on 1 January 2021.</p><p>Arrangements for EU, EEA and Swiss citizens arriving after free movement ends, coming to visit, work or study, for the duration of less than three months, will not look any different.</p><p>To stay longer than three months during the transition period, newly arrived EU citizens will need to apply for European Temporary Leave to Remain, which lasts for a further 36 months. The Regulation provides that unaccompanied asylum-seeking children are given information on the Dublin procedure by the State in which the child has lodged his or her application, the State in which they are present.</p><p>The Commission’s Regulation implementing Dublin III contains a specific leaflet with information for unaccompanied children pursuant to Article 4 of the Dublin III Regulation EU 604/2013, including that the authorities where the application has been lodged should be told as soon as possible if the child thinks they have family in another Dublin State.</p><p>As part of the Sandhurst Treaty, signed by the UK and France in January 2018, we have allocated £3.6 million to fund the development of the Dublin process to support transfers of eligible children to the UK (including training for those working with unaccompanied children, family tracing and targeted information campaigns). The White Paper proposals include a new route for skilled workers which will be open to anyone at RQF level 3 and above, irrespective of where they are applying from. This route will not be capped allowing all of those who meet our requirements to come to the UK and we intend to abolish the existing Resident Labour Market Test for highly skilled roles.</p><p><br>The White Paper also includes, as a transitional measure, a temporary workers route which will be open to anyone from qualifying countries, wishing to fill positions at any skill level, for up to 12 months. This information is recorded on individual Home Office files, but not in a way that can be easily retrieved, and this information could only be obtained at disproportionate costs.</p><p><br>The Home Office does publish data on those who have been granted asylum in the UK, for main applicants broken down by country of nationality, including those from Afghanistan. The White Paper proposals include a new route for skilled workers which will be open to anyone at RQF level 3 and above, irrespective of where they are applying from. This route will not be capped, allowing all of those who meet our requirements to come to the UK.</p><p><br>The White Paper also includes a transitional route for temporary workers which will be open to anyone from qualifying countries, wishing to fill positions at any skill level, for up to 12 months. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/07/2019 answer text <p>Under the new Asylum Accommodation and Support Contracts (AASC) and Advice Issue Reporting and Eligibility (AIRE) contracts, all issues and complaints raised by Service Users will be managed by the AIRE provider thereby simplifying the system for the service user and allowing for a clearer understanding of roles and responsibilities. The AIRE provider will be responsible for capturing, logging and referring feedback and complaints to the AASC Provider or Home Office for resolution, in a timely manner in line with the Key Performance Indicators underpinning the AASC and AIRE contracts.</p><p>The AIRE provider will work closely with Service Users to ensure they are aware of the action being taken to resolve the complaint and communicate any delays in resolution where the complaint may be complex. If the AIRE and AASC provider is unable to resolve a Service User complaint within a timely manner, this can be escalated to the Home Office for action where appropriate. The Home Office reserves the right to undertake an independent investigation into any Service User requests for support or complaints, and the Accommodation Provider’s performance in responding and implementing actions in response to such requests for support or complaints.</p><p>The Home Office and Providers will monitor all complaints raised throughout the transition period and beyond and will continue to engage with Local Authorities through the Regional Strategic Migration Partnerships to listen to and act in response to any wider concerns raised, ensuring swift and appropriate action. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/07/2019 answer text <p>The application fee for a visa or visa extension is paid to the Home Office and is not related to the service provided by Sopra Steria.</p><p>As part of the application process in the UK individuals must enrol their biometrics at a UK Visa and Citizenship Application Service centre which are run by Sopra Steria.</p><p>For the majority of applicants in the UK there are a variety of offerings for students and other employees at UK education institutions which include free appointments at core service points, access to enhanced service points and the premium lounge for a fee. Additionally, to help meet demand for the autumn increase in student applications a “Tier 4 Service Point” will also be offered by Sopra Steria for a fee. This cost of this is lower than the costs of an out of hours, enhanced service point or premium lounge appointments under the normal UKVCAS service and will save students the financial and logistical burden of travel.</p><p>As part of our governance processes, we work closely with SSL to ensure that excessive charges are not imposed on UKVI customers. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/07/2019 answer text <p>In the period up to 31 May 2019, the last point at which data was assured, 368 applications were received for administrative review of decisions made on applications under the EU Settlement Scheme. Of these:</p><p>• 30 administrative review applications were rejected, e.g. because no EU Settlement Scheme application had been received;</p><p>• in all the remaining 253 cases, the applicant was challenging a grant of pre-settled status rather than settled status, of which:</p><p>o 22 of these grants of pre-settled status were upheld following the administrative review; and <br>o 231 of these grants of pre-settled status were overturned, and the applicant was instead granted settled status following administrative review. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/07/2019 answer text <p>The Government set out its proposals for the future skills-based immigration system in the White Paper published on 18 December. It states that those wishing to base themselves in the UK to work on a self-employed or freelance basis will continue to able to do so where they are able to qualify under the exceptional talent, business start-up or innovator routes. In addition, those skilled professionals who are technically self-employed but effectively filling a position with a UK-based business, for example, barristers, will continue to be able to be sponsored under the new route for skilled and highly skilled workers.</p><p>The UK has existing commitments under the General Agreement on Trade in Services and bilateral free trade agreements concluded between the EU and third countries which provide for the admission of contractual service suppliers and self-employed professionals where they are coming under contract to supply a service to a UK client. These commitments, which the UK expects to continue to be bound by following the UK’s exit from the EU, are currently implemented through existing provisions in the UK immigration system, and these arrangements will continue after the UK leaves the EU.
