star this property answer text <p>As set out in response to PQs 123692 and 123704, for the entire period of time that Randox Testing Services (RTS) provided s.5A drug driving analysis services to the criminal justice system, it was accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service to ISO 17025, the quality standard set by the Forensic Science Regulator (FSR), including specific accreditation for “the detection and quantification of drugs in relation to s.5A of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (as amended) and the Drug Driving (Specified Limits) (England and Wales) Regulations 2014”. FSR–C–133 has been in development for around two years and the FSR has not issued a final version.</p><p>The latest version of the FSR’s Codes of Practice, published in October 2017, now include the requirement to pay due regard to the United Kingdom and Ireland Association of Forensic Toxicologists (UKIAFT) guidelines, which recommend the use of duplicate extraction.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The police have the power under section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 to seize any vehicle, including an off-road vehicle, used in a careless and inconsiderate manner or in a manner causing alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public. The Home Office does not collect or hold information on the number of seized vehicles.</p><p>The rules and guidance to the police on the recording of all crimes involving vehicles are set out in the National Crime Recording Standard and Home Office Counting Rules.</p><p>Home Office Ministers and officials have regular discussions on a wide range of topics with those representing the interests of police officers, including those representing specialist police drivers.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Ahead of the end of March this year, the International Crime Coordination Centre (ICCC) is recruiting 50 personnel 30 for a central unit in London and 20 regional posts. Of the central posts, six are police staff and the rest are officers.</p><p>The National Crime Agency and the national Criminal Records Office will have resources embedded within the ICCC (four people and two people respectively).</p><p>We continue to work closely with our operational partners to understand their resourcing requirements for EU Exit planning and delivery, in the event of either a deal or a no deal scenario.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Arrangements for police leave and the allocation of officers to the National Police Chiefs Council Brexit contingency planning team are matters for operational policing and not for the Home Office.</p><p>Port arrangements are a matter for operational policing and the Local Resilience Forums (LRFs). Forces are working closely with partner agencies in Local Resilience Forums across the country to prepare for a No Deal exit scenario. Government is assisting LRFs where appropriate.</p><p>The police have tried and tested strategic mobilisation plans for responding to a wide range of emergency scenarios, including widespread disorder. We are working closely with the National Police Chiefs Council and National Police Coordination Centre to ensure they are appropriate for a No Deal EU Exit and any requirements for mutual aid or other support will be considered within that contingency planning.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The number of armed response vehicles (ARVs) by force is not centrally recorded. It is for Chief Officers in England and Wales to make decisions about the deployment of ARVs, based on a thorough assessment of the threat and risk in their local area.</p><p>From April 2016, as part of our £144m Armed Police Uplift Programme, the total number of ARVs across England and Wales has increased by 41, with an additional 650 ARV Officers. The second phase of the programme, on track to deliver next year, will see an uplift of highly specialist counter-terrorism firearms officers, increasing the total number of armed officers by around 1,000 by the end of 2018.</p> more like this
