star this property answer text <p>On 29 March 2007 in a Written Ministerial Statement the Prime Minister announced a Machinery of Government Change whereby the transfer of a number of policy areas would take place from the Home Office to a new Ministry of Justice. This included the transfer of the National Offender Management Service, including the Prison and Probation Services, on 9th May 2007. Incorporated in this change was the policy relating to the secure estate for young offenders.<br><br>Section 46 of the Children and Young Persons act 1969 contains provision for the cessation of approved schools as a consequence of the establishment of community homes. The responsibility for approved schools was transferred to the Department of Health and Social Security in 1971 and, in 1973, under a number of orders made under powers in section 46 above approved schools ceased to operate in 1973.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

The Government will review its progress against the UK’s commitments <br>early next year.<br><br>The Serious and Organised Crime Strategy applies the successful framework we use to counter terrorism to drive and coordinate our response to serious and organised crime, which encompasses illegal wildlife trade. The National Crime <br>Agency and its law enforcement partners focus on disrupting those serious and organised criminals that present the highest risk to the UK and its communities, including in areas such as child sexual exploitation and modern <br>slavery. star this property answer text <p>Wildlife crime, including the illegal wildlife trade, is included in the National Strategic Assessment of Serious and Organised Crime (NSA). The NSA is produced by the National Crime Agency on behalf of UK law enforcement and <br>states that the two main current threats relate to illegal import, export and internal trade in certain species and the persecution of wild birds of prey across the UK. Wildlife is sought globally for illegal trade because of the <br>high demand for products, and those most valued are covered by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. star this property answer text <p>The Coalition Government does not believe that controlling ketamine internationally is appropriate, as it could result in reduced access to a substance listed as an essential medicine by the World Health Organisation, and widely used as an anaesthetic in low and middle income countries. We will be adopting this position at the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs.<br><br>However, we are determined to clamp down on the criminal misuse of ketamine, which leaves young people in the UK hospitalised with serious bladder and kidney damage every year.<br><br>To prevent its misuse, we have made ketamine a Class B drug and taken action to ensure its availability for health and veterinary care in the UK is properly regulated.<br><br>We continue to discuss our concerns over the impact of international control with a range of civil society groups and professional bodies, including bodies representing anaesthetists.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The cross-Government action plan on hate crime outlines the areas in which we are taking action. In particular, we are encouraging people who are victims of hate crime to report it in order to better focus resources to tackle its <br>causes. In 2013-14, 555 transgender hate crimes were recorded by the police, an increase of 54% from 361 recorded in 2012-13.<br><br>Since the action plan was launched, the Government has also amended section 146 of the Criminal Justice Act 2003 to include transgender-identity in the suite of aggravating factors, whereby courts have the power to increase the sentence <br>length for crimes motivated by hostility towards the victim based on a personal characteristic. In addition, the Government held a national seminar in November 2012 of transgender organisations to identify ways of improving communications <br>and to increase reporting. In April, the Crown Prosecution Service launched educational resources for schools to address hostility towards lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
