	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/12/2018 answer text <p>The UK continues to lead international efforts to prevent terrorist use of the internet. This includes working closely with the EU and other international partners to push industry to take a more proactive approach to detecting and removing terrorist content from their platforms, including by legislative means.</p><p>On 12 September, the European Commission announced a regulation to tackle terrorist content online. The UK has worked with the Commission and other Member States to ensure the proposed Regulation is ambitious and has meaningful impact on the problem.</p><p>If agreed, the Regulation would have direct effect in domestic law and as such, we do not consider that any changes to domestic law would be necessary. 	question text	To ask Her Majesty’s Government, further to the Written Answer by Baroness Williams of Trafford on 8 September (HL1606), where a communications service provider is not based in the UK but has UK citizens or foreign nationals working for it and residing in the UK, what is the justification for not prosecuting executives when their company fails to take action to remove terrorist or extremist content which would be an offence if committed by a UK based company and its officers.

	question text	To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many Islamist websites suspected of involvement in, or encouragement of, terrorism were removed from the internet in 2016 as a result of UK Government intervention and policy initiatives, including co-operation with internet service providers.

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/01/2017 answer text <p>This Government takes seriously the threat from online terrorist and extremist propaganda, which can directly influence people who are vulnerable to radicalisation.</p><p>In the UK our dedicated police Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit (CTIRU) refers content that they assess as contravening UK terrorism legislation to industry. If industry agree that it breaches their terms and conditions, they remove it voluntarily.
