	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/07/2023 answer text <p>While we are disappointed with the Court of Appeal’s ruling in relation to deficiencies in Rwanda’s asylum system that risk returning people inappropriately when they have a need for protection, we have been granted permission to appeal this judgement to the Supreme Court.</p><p>We continue to bring forward alternative accommodation options to reduce hotel use. The situation is very complex and presents significant challenges, including how those who are eligible for resettlement in the UK can leave Afghanistan. This includes the eligible family members of those being resettled under the ACRS. For those evacuated from Afghanistan under the ACRS without their immediate family members, further information will be made available in due course about options for reuniting with them.</p><p>In line with our existing policy, those resettled under the ACRS may be able to be accompanied by their immediate family members (their spouse or partner, and dependent children under 18).</p><p>Those referred by UNHCR under the ACRS will have refugee status and will therefore be able to access the refugee family reunion route.</p><p>Those without refugee status wishing to bring family members would need to apply through the regular family visa route under Appendix FM of the Immigration Rules.</p><p>Whilst the UK has made a generous resettlement commitment, we must bear in mind the capacity of the UK to resettle people is not unlimited and therefore difficult decisions about who will be prioritised for resettlement have to be made.</p> answering member constituency Newark answering member printed Robert Jenrick question first answered 24/02/2023 14:49:11 answering member 4320 label Biography information for Robert Jenrick

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/09/2023 answer text <p>This Government is clear that targeting, grooming and the exploitation of children who are often the most vulnerable in our society is deplorable and is committed to tackling it. The Modern Slavery Act 2015 gives law enforcement agencies the tools to tackle modern slavery, including potential maximum sentences of life imprisonment for perpetrators and specific support and protection for victims, including children. £17.8 million of dedicated funding has been provided to the police since 2016, helping to improve the police’s ability to identify victims and to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators and we are investing up to £145 million over three years to tackle drugs supply and county lines activity. The Prevention Programme in England and Wales also delivers tailored interventions, based on police intelligence, to improve multi-agency collaboration in prevention of all exploitation types and help identify hot spot locations, priority areas and specific threats in each region.</p><p> </p><p>The identification of a child who is a potential victim of modern slavery, or is at risk of being a victim, should always trigger the agreed local child protection procedures to ensure the child’s safety and welfare, and to enable the police to gather evidence about abusers and coercers. Decisions will be taken on a case-by-case basis and nobody will be removed if it is unsafe for them.</p><p>We will thoroughly consider the circumstances of cases involving families with children according to our policy, statutory and international obligations. A dangerous journey is one able or likely to cause harm or injury. This would therefore not include those who have arrived in the UK through safe and legal routes of entry.</p><p>A case-by-case assessment will take place for every individual considered for relocation. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/03/2023 answer text <p>The safety of the public is our first priority and alongside this, the Government has been taking steps to strengthen firearms licensing. The Statutory Guidance, which sets out clearly the stringent checks that the police need to undertake when assessing the suitability of firearms licence applicants, was refreshed on 14 February following a review after its first year in operation.</p><p>Those who are licensed to possess firearms must not pose a danger to themselves or others and the Statutory Guidance sets out the additional checks the police must carry out in relation to domestic abuse where there is information that this is relevant. Depending on the individual case, these checks should include interviews with partners, relatives or friends or others living at the address, as well as interviews with previous partners and checks with the force domestic abuse unit and Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hubs. When assessing the suitability of a person to have a firearms licence, domestic violence is considered to be a most serious factor, and if there is evidence of domestic violence being perpetrated by the applicant, it will usually mean that the application is refused unless there are exceptional circumstances in that particular case.</p><p>Following the conclusion on Monday 20 February of the inquest into the tragic shootings which occurred in Keyham in August 2021, and the issuing of a report from the Independent Office for Police Conduct into the shootings and the report following a recent inquiry by the Scottish Affairs Committee into firearms licensing, we are giving urgent but careful consideration to recommendations made to the Home Office about firearms licensing.</p> answering member constituency Croydon South answering member printed Chris Philp grouped question UIN 149620 question first answered 01/03/2023 15:28:04 answering member 4503 label Biography information for Chris Philp
