	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/07/2023 answer text <p>While we are disappointed with the Court of Appeal’s ruling in relation to deficiencies in Rwanda’s asylum system that risk returning people inappropriately when they have a need for protection, we have been granted permission to appeal this judgement to the Supreme Court.</p><p>We continue to bring forward alternative accommodation options to reduce hotel use. The situation is very complex and presents significant challenges, including how those who are eligible for resettlement in the UK can leave Afghanistan. This includes the eligible family members of those being resettled under the ACRS. For those evacuated from Afghanistan under the ACRS without their immediate family members, further information will be made available in due course about options for reuniting with them.</p><p>In line with our existing policy, those resettled under the ACRS may be able to be accompanied by their immediate family members (their spouse or partner, and dependent children under 18).</p><p>Those referred by UNHCR under the ACRS will have refugee status and will therefore be able to access the refugee family reunion route.</p><p>Those without refugee status wishing to bring family members would need to apply through the regular family visa route under Appendix FM of the Immigration Rules.</p><p>Whilst the UK has made a generous resettlement commitment, we must bear in mind the capacity of the UK to resettle people is not unlimited and therefore difficult decisions about who will be prioritised for resettlement have to be made.</p> answering member constituency Newark answering member printed Robert Jenrick question first answered 24/02/2023 14:49:11 answering member 4320 label Biography information for Robert Jenrick

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/11/2022 answer text <p>The UK recognises the need to better understand the complex links between migration, climate change and environmental degradation to inform our policy and action. Where relevant, all Government departments include climate change impact as part of their policy development and analysis.</p><p>Initial analysis suggests that climate extremes and environmental degradation are often amplifiers of other principal migration drivers.</p><p>Climate change is not covered in the Refugee Convention as grounds for a well-founded fear of persecution and we do not have any plans to broaden this definition. We recognise however, that climate change will increasingly become a significant factor in driving migration. For those who do not qualify for refugee status, we consider whether they are at risk of serious harm and are in need of protection on humanitarian grounds. This ensures that we do not remove anyone who faces persecution or serious harm on return to their country of origin. Decisions will be taken on a case-by-case basis and nobody will be removed if it is unsafe for them.</p><p>We will thoroughly consider the circumstances of cases involving families with children according to our policy, statutory and international obligations. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/07/2023 answer text <p>As set out in the Home Office’s Inadmissibility guidance, an asylum claimant may be eligible for removal to Rwanda if their claim is inadmissible under this policy and (a) that claimant’s journey to the UK can be described as having been dangerous and (b) was made on or after 1 January 2022. A dangerous journey is one able or likely to cause harm or injury. This would therefore not include those who have arrived in the UK through safe and legal routes of entry.</p><p>A case-by-case assessment will take place for every individual considered for relocation. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/11/2022 answer text <p><strong>a)</strong></p><p>Medical services are delivered at Manston and Western Jetfoil through two separate but complementary contracts with external suppliers. Currently, in total, there are eight paramedical/medical trained staff on site by day, in a fully equipped medical centre. In addition, there are three Emergency Department Consultant doctors providing clinical cover at the site; and a Consultant is on site during the day between 0800-2000hrs, with on-call cover provided overnight.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>b)</strong></p><p>All immigration removal centres (IRC) have dedicated health facilities run by doctors and nurses which are managed by the NHS or appropriate providers. All receptions into IRCs receive an assessment within two hours by a nurse and are offered a doctor’s appointment within 24 hours. In addition to published guidance, staff at all centres are also given training and support to proactively identify and act upon indicators of vulnerability at the earliest opportunity. Welfare teams are onsite at every IRC to assist detained individuals in accessing support specific to their needs.</p><p><strong>c)</strong></p><p>Asylum seekers have full access to NHS health service upon arrival in the UK. The Home Office and its accommodation providers work closely with partners across public health. We have worked closely with NHS to ensure that service users are signposted to register with GP’s as quickly as possible and that access to Health Screenings offered by individual practices are signposted to service users new to contingency hotels in boroughs.</p><p> </p><p>All Home Office staff and contractors engaging with asylum seekers are trained to adopt a risk-based approach towards potential indications of vulnerability and to refer relevant cases onto the Safeguarding Hub, a dedicated resource assigned to identifying and safeguarding vulnerable asylum seekers. The Safeguarding Hub works closely with the statutory agencies to signpost vulnerable customers for support with their health and social care needs.</p><p> </p><p>On 25 June we and DHSC set up a National Asylum Seeker Steering Group (NASHSG) and associated subgroups.
