	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/03/2018 answer text <p>The Home Office delivers the Government’s Cyber Aware campaign, and the Take Five to Stop Fraud campaign, which is run in conjunction with UK Finance and supported by the UK’s banks. The Cyber Aware and Take Five campaigns are designed to help encourage the public and small businesses to protect themselves from cyber crime and fraud, providing advice on specific protective and actionable behaviours to increase resilience.</p><p>Cyber Aware and Take Five in particular have been developed jointly by industry and Government experts including the National Cyber Security Centre and the Joint Fraud Taskforce and have established consensus around a single set of authoritative advice to protect individuals from cyber criminals and fraudsters. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/11/2017 answer text <p>The Government does not direct Police &amp; Crime Commissioners or Chief Constables about the proportion of local funding that should be devoted to different crime types. Decisions on the operational deployment of resources are a matter for Chief Constables and Police and Crime Commissioners, who are held to account by the communities they serve. However, through the National Cyber Security Programme, we invested £117 million under the 2010-15 Parliament to bolster the law enforcement response to cyber-crime, in addition to any funding allocated locally.</p><p>The cyber threats we face continue to grow in scale and sophistication. This is why the National Cyber Security Strategy 2016-2021 is supported by £1.9billion of transformational investment.</p><p>The Government provides ring-fenced funding for counter-terrorism policing. The level of counter-terrorism police funding is published annually in a Written Ministerial Statement on the Police Grant Report. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/07/2017 answer text <p>The Home Office is committed to not placing unnecessary bureaucratic burdens on the police and has scrapped all central targets. However, Chief Constables are under a duty to comply with the Strategic Policing Requirement (SPR). The SPR provides a framework for consistent, collective decision making by forces, but leaves the specifics of how this should be achieved to Chief Constables.</p><p>The Strategic Policing Requirements describes organised crime, including large scale cyber crime, as a national threat that Chief Constables and Police and Crime Commissioners are expected to plan and prepare, together or in support of national arrangements, to address these threats.</p><p>The National Police Chiefs’ Council has oversight of force contributions to the SPR. Police and Crime Commissioners are required to hold Chief Constables to account for the delivery of the SPR and to have regard to the SPR when producing their police and crime plans. The Home Office also continue to support forces in building professional responsibility through the College of Policing; and returning accountability to the public through Police and Crime Commissioners.</p><p>The 2015 National Security Strategy confirmed that cyber remains a top threat to the UK’s economic and national security. The UK’s future security and prosperity depends on our ability to safeguard digital information, data and networks at home and abroad. The cyber threats we face continue to grow in scale and sophistication. This is why the National Cyber Security Strategy 2016-2021 is supported by £1.9billion of transformational investment.</p><p>Through the National Cyber Security Programme, we invested over £90 million under the 2010-15 Parliament to bolster the law enforcement response. The Government will continue to invest in law enforcement capabilities at the national, regional and local levels to ensure delivery agencies have the capacity to deal with the increasing volume and sophistication of cyber crime. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/11/2016 answer text <p>In February this year the Government launched the Joint Fraud Taskforce, a partnership of government, law enforcement and the banks to collectively tackle fraud. The Taskforce is looking at new ways to ensure individuals have the tools and knowledge to protect themselves from fraudsters. A Joint Fraud Taskforce partner, Financial Fraud Action UK, recently launched a nation-wide fraud prevention campaign ‘Take 5’ which advises that individuals take five minutes to consider what they are being asked to do, especially if being pressured to take an unusual course of action such as transferring funds to an unknown individual.</p><p>The Government’s Cyber Aware campaign aims to help small business and individuals protect themselves from cyber criminals by adopting simple secure online behaviours such as having a strong password and always downloading the latest software updates. Cyber Aware works with a range of public and private sector partners to embed cyber security advice into a range of every day touch points, including Get Safe Online, whose remit is to help individuals and small businesses safeguard themselves against fraud and other online data threats.</p><p>The Home Office has also invested in new IT for the Action Fraud / National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) capability. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/11/2016 answer text <p>The Joint Fraud Taskforce is a partnership between government, law enforcement and the financial sector, working in new innovative ways to deliver a more effective response to fraud.</p><p>To-date, closer working between the banks and the police through the Taskforce has led to: the closure or heightened monitoring of thousands of bank accounts linked to fraud; a nationwide campaign to locate ten prolific fraudsters that has led to four arrests; and bank branches across London introducing new processes to identify potential victims of fraud and provide them with swift support from Trading Standards and the police.</p><p>The Home Secretary chaired an Oversight Board of the Taskforce in September, where a forward programme was agreed that will focus on: improving the national, regional and local law enforcement response to fraud; introducing a system to make it much easier for the victims of fraud to have their money repatriated; an industry led strategic action plan to address card not present fraud; launching a very visible national fraud prevention campaign to provide targeted advice to protect members of the public; and a new collective approach to better support victims of fraud.
