answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/01/2018 answer text <p>The Department continues to increase investment in health and social care and has committed to backing the National Health Service with an additional £10 billion, in real terms, by 2020/21. At the spring Budget we announced an additional £2 billion will be given to councils over the next three years for social care. In total, we have given councils access to £9.25 billion more dedicated funding for social care between 2017/18 and 2019/20.</p><p> </p><p>The Department also monitors and publishes wider quarterly wider health outcome measures including mortality statistics in the NHS Outcomes Frameworks. The NHS Outcomes Framework is a set of indicators developed by the Department to monitor the health outcomes of adults and children in England.</p><p> </p><p>The Framework sets out health outcome measures including mortality statistics in the NHS. The latest statistics among those aged under 75 show that the mortality rates from the two largest causes of death (cancer and cardiovascular disease) have reduced between 2010 and 2016 (by 12.2 and 16.8 deaths per 100,000 population, respectively).</p><p> </p><p>The rates for the next two (respiratory disease and liver disease) have increased over the same period. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/01/2018 answer text <p>NHS England is working closely with Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service to ensure establishment-level resilience to psychoactive substances, through a co-ordinated approach to both supply reduction and demand reduction.</p><p> </p><p>The UK Drug Misuse and Dependence Clinical Guidelines were recently updated by an independent expert working group, following a public consultation. The guidelines were published in July 2017. The Guidelines require that (as a part of a comprehensive assessment) there is confirmation of use of psychoactive substances and identification of the degree of problem use or dependence. This would usually be followed by abstinence-oriented psychosocial interventions.</p><p> </p><p>The Guidelines are available at:</p><p> </p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/673978/clinical_guidelines_2017.pdf" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/673978/clinical_guidelines_2017.pdf</a></p><p> </p><p>NHS England is due to publish the revised prison Substance Misuse Service Specification shortly. This specification modernises and updates expectations in relation to the management of individuals with drug-related issues, including specifically, responses to psychoactive substances. NICE technology appraisal guidance makes recommendations for the National Health Service on whether drugs and treatments represent a clinically and cost effective use of resources. NHS commissioners are legally required to fund drugs and treatments recommended through the technology appraisal programme within three months.</p><p> </p><p>NICE has positively appraised guidance on use of “Paclitaxel in the treatment of ovarian cancer” (TA:55), published in May 2005; “Olaparib for maintenance treatment of relapsed, platinum-sensitive, BRCA mutation-positive ovarian, fallopian tube and peritoneal cancer after response to second-line or subsequent platinum-based chemotherapy” (TA:381), published in January 2016; and, “Topotecan, pegylated liposomal doxorubicin hydrochloride, paclitaxel, trabectedin and gemcitabine for treating recurrent ovarian cancer” (TA:389), published in April 2016.</p> answering member constituency Winchester answering member printed Steve Brine question first answered 24/01/2018 12:11:27 answering member 4067 label Biography information for Steve Brine

All UK-insured residents, including those with disabilities, benefit from the reciprocal healthcare arrangements currently in place and the Government is working to ensure this access to healthcare in EU member states continues on the same terms as they do after the UK leaves the EU.
