answer text <p>The second Life Sciences Sector Deal, published by the Government in December 2018, announced that Genomics England will undertake development work on a new service to enable volunteers to pay for a personalised report on their unique genetic makeup.</p><p>Genomics England are in the early stages of developing the scheme, working with patient groups and the public as well as key partners, including the National Health Service.</p><p>It will be developed in line with the founding principles of the NHS and established to the highest ethical standards.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We have sought reassurance that none of the current contracts with National Health Service trusts will be transferred to Google, and any changes will require the agreement of the trusts. The patient data processed for Streams will remain controlled by the trusts, and will not be used for any purpose other than the provision of direct patient care, as specified in existing agreements.</p><p>We are working with DeepMind and Google as they consider how to provide assurance on the use of patient data as Streams grows into a global product. The Code of Conduct for Data Driven Technologies sets out the principles that we expect NHS trusts and industry partners to follow.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We will seek a full explanation from Google about its plans, including why they have halted the independent review panel and how they intend to replace this function.</p><p>We will work with regulators, including the Information Commissioner’s Office, and the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation to ensure anything that happens as a result of the transfer of Streams respects patients’ privacy and complies fully with the law.</p><p>I met with DeepMind recently and raised this issue with them.</p> more like this

answer text <p>At this moment in time no contracts have been signed or amended, or other arrangements put in place, and the Streams team have been open with us at the Department about their plans for the transition.</p><p>National Health Service trusts are the data controller and retain the responsibility for how the data is used and for gaining patient consent for any change of use.</p><p>We have received assurances from DeepMind that no Personally Identifiable Data has been transferred as a result of this corporate restructure.</p> more like this
