However, the latest data available from the Active Lives Adult Survey shows that the proportion of adults classified as overweight or living with obesity statistically significantly increased between 2015/16 and 2019/20 in 17 of 148 upper tier local authorities. Further legislation on restrictions on the promotion and advertising of products high in fat, salt or sugar will come into effect in due course.  Through our reformulation programmes, we are ensuring that the food and drink available to consumers is healthier. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/11/2021 answer text <p>‘Tackling obesity: empowering adults and children to live healthier lives’ sets out a range of measures to reduce the prevalence of obesity, improve diets and promote healthier lifestyle behaviours, including addressing inactivity and preventing ill-health.</p><p> </p><p>To target areas with higher levels of deprivation and obesity prevalence, we have introduced a £30.5 million grant for local authorities in England to commission adult behavioural weight management services in 2021/22, with funding allocated based on population size, obesity prevalence and deprivation. Large scale broadcast advertising was combined with targeted digital marketing to reach and engage adults and help them achieve and maintain a healthy weight, ensuring they were better able to fight diseases, including COVID-19. PHE is currently reviewing activity and planning for the next phase of the campaign</p><p><br> The NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme identifies those at high risk of developing diabetes and refers them onto a behaviour change programme. This includes feedback from a wide range of experts and stakeholders on specific policy proposals and in response to our public consultations.</p><p> </p><p>Public Health England and the National Health Service are supporting local areas to increase weight management services, with the aim to reach population groups most in need. This includes local implementation of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence’s (NICE) guidelines relating to obesity, which includes identification of obesity status and recommends appropriate weight management approaches to care and support individuals living with severe obesity. The strategy demonstrates an overarching campaign to reduce obesity, takes forward actions from previous chapters of the childhood obesity plan and sets out measures to get the nation fit and healthy, protect against COVID-19 and protect the National Health Service.</p><p> </p><p>Actions include restricting the advertising of high fat, salt and sugar (HFSS) products being shown on TV and online, restricting promotions of HFSS products by location and price, calorie labelling in restaurants, expanding weight management services and making conversations about weight in primary care the norm.</p><p> </p><p>In July 2020, Public Health England launched the Better Health Campaign which promotes evidence-based tools and advice to help people look after their mental and physical health. The campaign shows adults the simple steps they can take to eat more healthily, increase their physical activity, care for their mental wellbeing and quit smoking.
