<p>NHS England collects data on the number of people admitted to hospital with a palliative
care diagnosis. However, this does not clearly indicate the reason for admission.
The following table shows the numbers of patients identified as being admitted to
hospital and having a palliative care diagnosis, for each of the past five years:</p><p>
