star this property answer text
Triclosan is an antimicrobial agent that is present as an active ingredient in some pharmaceutical products, such as antiseptic skin solutions and medicinal toothpastes. As with all medicinal products, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) keeps the safety of triclosan-containing pharmaceuticals under continual review. The view of the MHRA is that the balance of risks and benefits of such products continues to be favourable. The MHRA is unaware of any new data relevant to humans to alter this view.

Triclosan has also been used for more than 35 years in a wide range of consumer products for its antiseptic, disinfectant and preservative properties.
