	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/10/2016 answer text <p>The female mosquitoes responsible for Zika virus transmission are not native to the United Kingdom and it is considered highly unlikely they could survive the current UK climatic conditions long enough to become established. The risk to public health posed by Zika virus is, therefore, very low and no greater than the risks posed by other mosquito-borne infections, such as malaria, for example.</p><p> </p><p>Public Health England monitors various insect vectors (in particular, mosquitoes) in the UK through surveillance projects that it runs in collaboration with a range of organisations across the UK. In England, detection of an invasive species considered to pose a threat to the UK would trigger the use of appropriate control measures.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Government is ensuring UK residents travelling to countries with active Zika transmission are encouraged to take measures to minimise the risk of being bitten by mosquitoes, for example through the use of insect repellent.</p><p> </p><p>Up-to-date travel advice is in place, and clinical advice is available to UK medical professionals. The report states that ‘the expansion of services anticipated by 2020/21 requires a parallel increase in the number of skilled staff able to provide care and treatment. National investment has begun in 2016/17 to deliver the 1,700 new therapists who are estimated to be required within five years. In line with the new all-age workforce strategy for mental health, the first 150 training places have been made available this year for newly-recruited therapists. While mental health treatment is often important to support recovery, there are times when other support can be beneficial in helping children and young people to recover from the trauma that arises from crimes committed against them.</p><p> </p><p>It is important that awareness of trauma (from abuse or neglect) and the impact it can have on children and young people’s mental health is raised across the workforce and that there is clarity on roles and responsibilities. Health Education England and NHS England are developing training for the health and wider children’s workforce to become more trauma aware.</p><p> </p><p>Where mental health care is needed, we want to ensure that children and young people can access good quality care, and the Government is committed to the vision set out in the report <em>Future in Mind</em> to transform the future of mental health services for all children and young people. This transformation is being supported by £1.25 billion of additional government investment over the course of this Parliament. It is expected that by 2020 an extra 70,000 children and young people will be helped every year.</p><p> </p><p>Local areas have produced Local Transformation Plans (LTPs) to improve the way these services are commissioned and delivered. LTPs should cover the full spectrum of service provision, including addressing the mental health needs of all children and young people. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/01/2017 answer text <p>Information provided by the Public Health England health protection team in the East of England, indicates that in mid-November 2016 there was one confirmed case of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) diagnosed in a patient at Yarls Wood Immigration Removal Centre. As per guidance from the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence, close contacts were identified, amongst whom four women presented with signs and symptoms which could be caused by TB. They were isolated until a fuller assessment was completed. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/02/2017 answer text <p>Healthcare in Immigration Removal Centres (IRCs) is commissioned by NHS England. Testing for infectious diseases among new entrants to IRCs, including Yarl’s Wood, is guided by advice from Public Health England and, where applicable, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance.</p><p> </p><p>New entrants to all IRCs have a symptom-based questionnaire at first reception screening where healthcare staff ascertain whether patients have either signs or symptoms of tuberculosis (TB) or past history of infection or recent contact with someone with TB.</p><p> </p><p>Since 2014, IRCs are advised to offer testing for HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C to new entrants as part of an ‘opt-out programme’ for blood-borne virus testing promoted by Public Health England, NHS England and the Home Office through the National Partnership Agreement.</p><p> </p><p>Testing for malaria is usually done following presentation of symptoms consistent with malaria in someone with a history of travel from endemic countries and is not done routinely on asymptomatic patients.</p> answering member constituency Oxford West and Abingdon answering member printed Nicola Blackwood question first answered 20/02/2017 11:56:09 answering member 4019 label Biography information for Baroness Blackwood of North Oxford
