star this property answer text <p>Interim findings from an evaluation of the development, implementation and early progress of mental health support teams in schools and colleges in the first 25 ‘trailblazer’ areas was published in July 2021. This found evidence of strengthened local partnership working; greater confidence among staff in schools and colleges in discussing mental health with children and young people; easier access to advice on mental health issues for pupils; and faster access to direct support for children and young people with some mental health problems. A final evaluation report is expected later in 2022.</p><p> </p><p>For both adults and children and young people’s National Health Service mental health services, commissioners seek to ensure that interventions on offer have been recommended as clinically and cost effective by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. These including local talking and psychological therapies provided through the Improving Access to Psychological (IAPT) programme, with the outcomes monitored through the IAPT dataset.</p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p>

However, the NHS Long Term Plan commits to the expansion of mental health care, including enabling more people with long term mental health conditions and serious mental illness to have greater access to talking therapies and integrated, multi-disciplinary community mental health care.</p><p><em> </em></p><p>The Government launched a call for evidence to support the development of a new cross-Government 10-year plan for mental health, including supporting those with long term mental health conditions, which closed on 7 July 2022.</p><p> </p><p>We have also published a draft Mental Health Bill, which sets out our aim for all patients formally detained under the mental health legislation to have a statutory right to a care and treatment plan.</p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>National Health Service mental health services have remained open throughout the pandemic. Community, talking therapies and children and young people’s services have deployed innovative digital tools to provide ongoing mental health support, while advice to people on supporting their own mental health is available online through Every Mind Matters.</p><p>Our Mental Health Recovery Action Plan has been allocated an additional £500 million in 2021/22 to ensure we have the right support in place, including for those with low to moderate mental health needs. Of this funding, £110 million will be invested in adult mental health services such as talking and psychological therapies and implementing the community mental health framework, while £79 million will be used to expand children and young people’s mental health services. We are also providing additional funding of £2.3 billion a year for mental health services, which will enable an extra 1.9 million people to be treated by NHS talking and psychological therapies by 2023/24.</p>

However, the NHS Long Term Plan commits to new and integrated models of primary and community mental health care which will support adults and older adults with severe mental illnesses. This includes access to personalised and trauma-informed care. In 2021/22, we invested £2.5 million to pilot new approaches to support children who have experienced complex trauma.</p><p>We are investing an additional £2.3 billion a year to enable a further two million people, including those who have experienced trauma, to access National Health Service-funded mental health support in England by 2023/24.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In March 2021, we published the Mental Health Recovery Action Plan, supported by an additional £500 million in 2021/22 to address waiting times for mental health services. This included £15 million for prevention and early intervention activity for mental health in the most deprived local authority areas in England. Funding for mental health services is allocated to systems by NHS England, in line with fair-shared weighted population splits and attributes. Clinical commissioning groups are responsible for the commissioning of mental health services locally.</p> more like this
