	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/02/2024 answer text <p>The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence has published a clinical guideline on the assessment and management of motor neurone disease (MND), to support its diagnosis. The guideline recommends coordinated care for people with MND, using a clinic based, MND specialist, multi-disciplinary team approach. The core multi-disciplinary team should consist of healthcare and other professionals with expertise in MND, and should include specialist nurses.</p><p>The Government has committed to delivering at least £50 million to support MND research over five years, from 2022 onwards, as part of a package of £375 million for research into neurodegenerative diseases. In June 2023, the Government announced that more than £35 million of the £50 million pledged to cutting-edge MND research has now been allocated, just two years into a five-year funding commitment. Work continues at pace to support MND researchers in submitting high-quality bids for open funding calls. The support provided includes the provision of multi-disciplinary care from specialist clinicians, including neurologists, specialist nurses, speech and language therapists, dietetics and nutrition support, and physiotherapy, depending on individual clinical need. Different communities require different social care provision and local authorities are best placed to understand the needs of their constituents.</p><p> </p><p>We have given local authorities access to up to £3.9 billion more dedicated funding for adult social care this year, and a further £410 million is available for adults and children’s services. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/05/2019 answer text <p>The Department has received representations from both individuals and civil society groups in relation to mental capacity and deprivation of liberty during the passage of the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Bill through Parliament.</p><p> </p><p>The Mental Capacity (Amendment) Bill has almost completed its Parliamentary process. The Bill replaces the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards with the Liberty Protection Safeguards. The new system will be simpler and more streamlined and efficient, improving protections for vulnerable people. The new model will be set out in a statutory Code of Practice, which will provide guidance to practitioners and individuals. This will include where a deprivation of liberty does and does not apply. The Government has committed to initially reviewing the Code within three years of the new system coming into force and then within five years of any previous review. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/06/2018 answer text <p>The Government has produced guidance in conjunction with experts in clinical practice and in the field of design for those who produce medicines packaging which recommends the judicious use of colour to ensure medicines are well differentiated to reduce the likelihood of error. In developing the principles within this guidance, the views of healthcare professionals and patients have been considered.</p><p> </p><p>While there are detailed legal requirements with respect to the content of the information provided on the packaging there are no provisions with respect to colour and design of the packaging when presented to the market place.</p><p> </p><p>Published research points to the similarity of packaging contributing adversely to selection errors in the pharmacy and other clinical settings. In addition, we are also mindful of the views expressed by patients whereby differences in appearance of medicines from different suppliers can be confusing. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/04/2018 answer text <p>The Government recognises that early intervention is absolutely vital and is committed to ensuring everyone with an eating disorder has access to timely treatment.</p><p> </p><p>For children and young people, the Government set up the first waiting times to improve access to eating disorders services for children and young people - so that by 2020/21 95% of children with an eating disorder will receive treatment within one week for urgent cases and within four weeks for routine cases. Latest figures indicate that the National Health Service is on track to meet that standard with almost 76.9% of all patients starting urgent treatment within one week and 83.1% of patients starting routine treatment within four weeks (third quarter of 2017-2018). The data is available at the following link:</p><p> </p><p><a href="https://www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/cyped-waiting-times/" target="_blank">https://www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/cyped-waiting-times/</a></p><p> </p><p>The Government announced in 2014 that it would invest £150 million to expand eating disorder community-based care and as a result 70 dedicated new or extended community services are now either open or in development. This means at least 3,350 children and young people a year will receive swift, effective eating disorder treatment in the community.</p><p> </p><p>For adults, a care pathway together with detailed implementation guidance for providers is under development by the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health in partnership with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.
