star this property answer text <p>It is for individual local authorities to decide what resources to commit to different public health services, including alcohol treatment services, to meet the needs of their local populations.</p><p> </p><p>Under the current system of 50% retained business rates, local authorities that receive more in business rates income than their baseline funding level contribute through a tariff, which is used to top up local authorities that receive less business rates income than their baseline funding level.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has been clear that under any future system there will continue to be redistribution of business rates between local authorities to take account of their relative needs.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Public Health England (PHE) is working with nine areas (covering 13 local authorities) to help improve the lives of children impacted by their parents’ alcohol dependency through a £4.5 million innovation fund which runs over three financial years. The new strategy will allow us to consider the changing landscape of alcohol use and to target vulnerable people who need support most with effective, evidence-based interventions. Understanding the needs of families or carers who support people with an alcohol dependence will be an important part of the development of the strategy and £6 million of new funding has been announced to help improve outcomes for children of alcohol dependent parents and help to tackle conflict within those families.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is committed to continuing to support informal carers, and to do so in a way that supports their own health and wellbeing, employment and other life chances. We also remain committed to support informal carers to provide care for those they care for. That is why the Department published a cross-Government action plan of targeted work to support carers over the next two years. star this property answer text <p>As part of the NHS Long Term Plan, we are establishing specialist Alcohol Care Teams (ACTs) in hospitals with the highest rates of alcohol harm. It is estimated that this will prevent 50,000 admissions over five years.</p><p>All clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) have been allocated a Health Inequalities Funding Supplement contribution to their indicative baselines. NHS England and NHS Improvement, through the Long Term Plan, have highlighted the evidence base for ACTs and indicated that where required, commissioners should utilise monies from this funding supplement to close health inequality gaps associated with alcohol dependence.</p><p>Additionally, for those areas with the highest levels of demand, additional targeted monies will be invested directly to ensure the provision of optimal ACTs starting from 2020/21.</p><p>Local authorities will also receive over £3 billion in 2019/20 to be used exclusively on public health including alcohol treatment services.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p>
