answer text <p>The UK provides extensive financial and technical assistance to civil society organisations in Zimbabwe who support Zimbabwean citizens in holding the state to account. We do not publicise our partners to avoid putting them at risk.</p><p>The UK does not support any candidate or political party in Zimbabwe. We have made clear to the Government of Zimbabwe that opposition parties should be free to campaign peacefully. UK diplomats hold regular meetings with political leaders from all main parties. Our Ambassador last met with the main opposition The Movement for Democratic Change Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa on 16 January.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We strongly condemn the persecution of human rights organisations in Nicaragua, including the steps taken by the authorities to revoke the legal status of human rights Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs). The UK regularly raises our concerns with the Nicaraguan Government. During meetings on 5-7 and 25 February, our Ambassador urged the Nicaraguan Government to reinstate NGO registration and to allow international bodies, such as the UN and the Organization of American States, back to continue their vital work.</p> more like this

answer text <p>​The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) runs programmes in Sierra Leone funded by the UK's Global Britain Fund. These cover issues such as access to justice, legal education and empowerment for women and girls in Sierra Leone, and LGBT rights. The FCO also runs the Chevening Scholarship programme in Sierra Leone which aims to achieve FCO objectives by creating lasting positive relationships with future leaders, influencers, and decision-makers. Her Majesty's Government also runs programmes in Sierra Leone to support human and economic development, governance and security sector reform, delivered through the Department for International Development and the Conflict, Stability and Security Fund. These include 'Saving Lives in Sierra Leone 2016', 'Rehabilitation of Freetown's Water Supply System', 'Leh Wi Learn - Sierra Leone Secondary Education Improvement Programme' and the 'International Security Advisory Team' (ISAT).</p> more like this

answer text <p>The United Kingdom and Germany have a close relationship which allows us to have continual discussions on a broad range of matters at all levels. The Foreign Secretary discussed, amongst other issues, arms sales to Saudi Arabia with his German counterpart, Foreign Minister Maas, on 1 and 20 February. He has also written to Mr Maas on this issue.
