answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/12/2014 answer text Whilst security for claimants and those returning to their land is a key concern, our 2013 Human Rights Report (released on 10 April 2014) notes that some progress has been made on the issue of land restitution. Since January 2012 there have been 64,815 registered land restitution claims. In his recent meeting with President Santos on 7 November, the Deputy Prime Minister, the right hon. Member for Sheffield Hallam (Mr Clegg), welcomed the Colombian government’s efforts to improve respect for human rights in Colombia, including through its land restitution and victims reparations processes. Our Embassy in Bogota runs several human rights projects to help improve Colombia’s land registry process, increase access to protection measures and raise awareness of the UN guiding principles on business and human rights. Officials from our Embassy also meet regularly with indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities and we also funded a project aimed at developing the role of organisations in protecting communities’ rights to the territories. Much depends on further reconciliation between the government and opposition, as well as the elections in October 2015, which must be free and fair. We, therefore, welcome the inauguration of the Independent Electoral Commission on 30 August, and the resumption of opposition participation in that Commission in November.</p><p>The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my hon. They share a history of tolerance and peaceful coexistence. The terrorist group Boko Haram is attempting to challenge Nigeria’s secular state and democratic constitution by attacking all Nigerians who do not follow their extremist and intolerant views. Their activities do not command widespread popular support and have caused immense suffering in both Muslim and Christian communities.</p><p>The UK is helping Nigeria build its own capacity to tackle Boko Haram and stop such attacks. We look to President Al Sisi to take steps to implement the rights contained in Egypt’s constitution, in particular ensuring freedom of expression and association, as well as ensuring that human and legal rights are fully upheld. We express our concern to the Egyptian authorities when we see these rights being threatened, such as in the mass death penalties handed down in Minya; the prosecution of journalists; the detention of people engaging in peaceful political expression, the limitations on peaceful protest, as well as restrictions on the freedom of non-governmental organisations. Friend the Member for Witney (Mr Cameron), asked that the Egyptian government address the large number of people being held in detention during his meeting with President Al-Sisi at the UN General Assembly in New York on 23 September.
