answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/07/2019 answer text <p>The treatment of all British-Iranians detained in Iran, including Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe, is a priority for the Government. We continue to raise her case, and our other consular cases, with the Iranian Government at every opportunity, including requesting consular access. I did this during my visit to Tehran on 23 June. We will continue to take action in line with what we believe will produce the best outcomes in their cases</p><p> </p><p><br> Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe does not hold diplomatic status; rather, the Foreign Secretary exercised diplomatic protection in her case. We do not however recognise the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPTs), including the settlements, as part of Israel. In order to enable consumers to make a more fully informed decision concerning the products they buy, in December 2009 the UK introduced voluntary guidelines to enable produce from Israeli settlements in the OPTs to be specifically labelled as such. Following the Presidential election on 21 May, our High Commission in Lilongwe is engaging with the newly appointed Government to agree areas for future co-operation. The UK supports prosperity and development for the people of Malawi with around £140 million invested per year through the Department for International Development (DFID)'s work, which is targeted on the most vulnerable in society. The UK-funded Commonwealth Trade Facilitation Programme is helping Malawi adopt faster and more efficient customs procedures. In turn, these will reduce the cost of doing business and create a more enabling environment for intra-Commonwealth Trade. In conjunction with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Ministry of Defence (MOD), we are also providing expertise and training to Malawian rangers to tackle the Illegal Wildlife Trade. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/07/2019 answer text <p>The Government condemns Jamal Khashoggi’s killing in the strongest possible terms and is clear that anyone found responsible must be held fully accountable.</p><p> </p><p>The UK was signatory to the joint statement on 7 March at the UN Human Rights Council which reiterated condemnation of the killing of Jamal Khashoggi. The statement called for investigations into the killing to be prompt; effective and thorough; independent and impartial; and transparent.</p><p> </p><p>There are areas where we disagree with Saudi Arabia on policy but no aspect of our relationship prevents us from addressing matters of concern. We will continue working with our Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA) partners – in particular with Germany and France – to keep the nuclear deal in place. We have been consistently clear with Iran that our commitment to the JCPoA depends on full Iranian compliance. We urge Iran to reverse the steps it has taken. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/07/2019 answer text <p>We remain deeply concerned about the persecution of Christians, Muslims and others on the grounds of their religion or belief in China. The freedom to practise, change or share ones faith or belief without discrimination or violent opposition is a human right that all people should enjoy.</p><p> </p><p>Accordingly, at the 40<sup>th</sup> UN Human Rights Council in March 2019, during his opening address on 25 February, Lord (Tariq) Ahmad raised concerns about restrictions on freedom of religion and belief in China including on Muslims in Xinjiang and Christians across China. We also co-sponsored a side event on “Protecting the fundamental freedoms in Xinjiang” in March 2019, which helped to raise awareness of the situation among the international community. Lord Ahmad also set out the Government’s position when answering an Oral Question in the House of Lords on 4 April 2019. Further, we raised our concerns on freedom of religion and belief during China’s Universal Periodic Review in November 2018.</p><p> </p><p>Ministers and senior officials frequently raise human rights issues bilaterally with their Chinese counterparts. The Foreign Secretary highlighted our concerns on Xinjiang with Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his most recent visit to China in July 2018.
