British scientists are participating in scientific expeditions to the Weddell Sea during this Antarctic season, and in a series of international scientific workshops and meetings, to further develop the scientific case for the MPA proposal. The Council delivers or part-funds eight schemes for UK students to study or work abroad. For example, over 2,000 students participate annually in the Language Assistants programme, which supports UK students and recent graduates in taking up a placement in a school to assist in English language teaching. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/04/2018 answer text <p>​The ongoing conflict makes humanitarian access and delivery of aid into and within Yemen extremely difficult. We urge all parties to the conflict to take all reasonable steps to allow and facilitate rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access, as called for in the two UN Security Council Presidential Statements that the UK sponsored and coordinated in June 2017 and March 2018. This has been a constant theme of our engagement with the Saudi authorities. The UK played a leading role in persuading the Saudi-led Coalition to ease access restrictions on Hodeidah and Saleef ports, imposed after a Houthi ballistic missile was launched at Riyadh on 4 November. During the recent visit to London of Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman, the UK and Saudi Arabia reaffirmed their commitment to work together to strengthen the inspection mechanism of the UN's Verification and Inspection Mechanism (UNVIM) to ensure that all Yemeni ports can remain fully open to commercial and humanitarian supplies. The UK is providing £1.3 million this financial year to UNVIM, and has deployed UK maritime experts to Djibouti to boost the inspections process. However, the Government is committed to raising standards of animal welfare at home and abroad. The sale and consumption of dog meat is legal in many countries, including China, and there are no international norms, laws or agreements governing this. We believe that it is necessary to work with governments around the world to gain agreement on animal welfare standards, and to phase out cruel and inhumane practices. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/10/2019 answer text <p>The UK has close connections with the ten countries that make up the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and we are rightly looking to strengthen our links with this important region of the world after we exit the EU.</p><p>The new UK Ambassador to ASEAN is expected to take up the role in Jakarta this autumn, with the Mission fully established and operational by the end of the current Financial Year. The Mission is co-located with the British Embassy in Jakarta. The estimated budget for establishing it is £700,000; the full costs will be known once the necessary works have been completed. The Foreign Secretary spoke to the UN Secretary-General on these priorities on 5 May. The UK is working together with international partners to achieve these objectives, including with the G7, G20, the UN and other multilateral institutions, in order to ensure a stronger institutional response to the current crisis, and greater resilience against future threats. Officials in Geneva and New York are in regular contact with the UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes on their contributions to the crisis response including future crisis preparedness.
