	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/11/2018 answer text <p>We believe the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA) remains the best way of preventing a nuclear-armed Iran and we are determined to see it maintained for as long as Iran complies with it. The deal is a critical agreement that makes the world a safer place and it is working; Iran remains constrained by the strict nuclear limits in the deal and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) retains unprecedented access to monitor and verify Iran's activities. IAEA reports continue to confirm that Iran is adhering to the nuclear limits in the JCPoA.</p><p>As set out in my Written Ministerial Statement to Parliament on Monday 5 November, we have been clear with the US about our determination to preserve the JCPoA, and the fact that this is driven by our national security interests. The UK is working with France and Germany on a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to enable continued sanctions relief to reach Iran, and to allow for European exporters and importers to trade in compliance with EU and UN sanctions.</p><p>In parallel to our work with partners to maintain the JCPoA, we continue to take steps with our partners against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps destabilising behaviour across the region and to hold Iran to account on human rights, including its treatment of British-Iranians detained in Iran.</p> answering member constituency North East Bedfordshire answering member printed Alistair Burt question first answered 12/11/2018 16:00:39 answering member 1201 label Biography information for Alistair Burt

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/10/2017 answer text <p>We are committed to the full implementation of the Iran nuclear deal – the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action – by all parties. Iran is in compliance with its nuclear-related commitments, as confirmed by the 31 August report of the International Atomic Energy Agency. UN Security Council Resolution 2231 calls upon Iran not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons. Since July 2015, Iran has carried out a number of ballistic missile tests and has launched a space launch vehicle using such technology. This activity is not a breach of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. But it is inconsistent with UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and we have written to the UN Secretary General with France, Germany and the US to express our concern. We call upon Iran to refrain from such activity.</p><p>We condemn North Korea's illegal nuclear and ballistic missile programmes. We are monitoring its programme developments, as the Foreign Secretary alluded to during his remarks to Parliament on 5 September. The assessment of any links between Iran and North Korea is sensitive information. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) continues to report Iran's compliance with its commitments under the JCPOA, most recently on 31 August. The Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary have spoken to their US counterparts, making clear that the deal is working and is a UK priority. They have also spoken regularly with their French and German counterparts on this issue. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/05/2018 answer text <p>The Joint Comprehnesive Plan of Action is the product of 13 years of tireless diplomacy, and it is working, with Iran having reduced its stock of enriched uranium by 95 per cent. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed nine times that Iran is complying with the nuclear deal, most recently in February. The IAEA inspection regime agreed as part of the Iran nuclear deal is one of the most extensive and robust in the history of international nuclear accords. It remains a vitally important way of independently verifying that the deal is working and that Iran's nuclear programme is exclusively peaceful. The UK continues to view the JCPOA as important for our shared security and for stability in the Middle East, through its role in neutralising the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran. In his statement to the House on 9 May, the Foreign Secretary was clear that the UK will remain a party to the deal as long as Iran continues to comply with its commitments. Last week’s nuclear agreement between the E3+3 and Iran offers the potential to take this further. It is a robust and verifiable deal which addresses our, and the EU’s, proliferation concerns. When Iran has implemented its commitments under the deal, the international community will lift some of its sanctions, delivering significant economic and financial benefits, and offering the potential to expand trade and investment between the EU and Iran.
