star this property answer text <p>The Government of Bahrain has made clear in public statements that access to appropriate medical care for those in detention is guaranteed by the Constitution of Bahrain. These statements stated publicly that, under normal circumstances, any prisoner wishing to see a doctor is taken to the prison clinic, with referral to specialist facilities where required. However as part of COVID-19 precautions, all medical consultations now take place via video calls, ensuring the safety of both patients and medical staff. We welcome these assurances from the Government of Bahrain, urge continued transparency and would encourage those with any concerns about treatment in detention to raise them with the appropriate Bahraini human rights oversight body.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We continue to follow the cases of Ms Mansoor, Ms Yusuf and Ms Ali, and have raised the issue of access to medical care with the Government of Bahrain at a senior level. The Government of Bahrain have given categorical assurances that Ms Mansoor has had appropriate investigations and will continue to receive access to appropriate medical care, as guaranteed by the constitution of Bahrain. We encourage those with concerns about treatment in detention to report them to the appropriate Bahraini human rights oversight body. We continue to encourage these oversight bodies to carry out swift and thorough investigations into any such concerns or allegations.</p> more like this

The UK continues to encourage the Government of Bahrain to protect human rights for all of its citizens, in line with its international obligations.</p><p>We encourage those with concerns about treatment in detention to report these to the appropriate oversight body. We encourage the oversight bodies to carry out swift, thorough and impartial investigations.</p><p>The UK does consistently and unreservedly condemn torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment and we raise our concerns wherever and whenever it occurs.​</p> more like this

The UK Government continues to have frank discussions with the Government of Bahrain about our concerns on human rights cases. We continue to encourage the Bahraini authorities to respect the rights of all its citizens and we have encouraged them to protect the universal rights of freedom of expression most recently at the UN Human Rights Commission meeting in September.</p> more like this

Our and NICO's aims are to assist the Government of Bahrain to bring its justice system into compliance with international standards. All of NICO's work in Bahrain is regularly monitored and reviewed and continues to comply with rigorous UK human rights standards, which are in line with international human rights law.
