star this property answer text <p>Ministers from the Department of Exiting the European Union have visited the West Midlands on a number of occasions since the referendum. The Government is committed to positive and productive engagement with businesses and local government in the West Midlands, as well as all parts of the UK, and will continue to work closely with them to understand the potential impact and opportunities presented by the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.</p><p>We have already carried out very significant ‘no deal’ preparations, and we have now published 106 specific technical notices to help businesses, citizens and consumers to prepare for March 2019 in the event of a no deal scenario.</p><p>These included 13 technical notices published by the Department for Transport covering road, rail, aviation and maritime. These technical notices set out, in detail, the potential effects on transport both at a regional and national level.</p><p> </p> more like this

The Department for Exiting the European Union now has over 250 staff plus the expertise of over 120 officials in Brussels, and we are still growing rapidly.</p><p>The term 'secondment' to refers to an interchange of staff between the Civil Service and an external organisation as such we have not brought any secondees into the Department from elsewhere in the Civil Service. All joiners from other Government departments have been on a loan basis, which refers to an interchange of staff between Civil Service departments or Agencies.<strong> </strong></p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Robin Walker, has attended a series of roundtables hosted by the Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street CBE. These were very positive meetings where the Minister met with representatives from the manufacturing, life sciences and university sectors.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The Government is committed to positive and productive engagement with all the regional Mayors. The Combined Authorities are an important regional stakeholder and we value the productive relationship we have built with their mayors since their election in May.</p><p> </p><p>We are working closely with them and other stakeholders from around the UK to understand the potential impact and opportunities presented by EU exit.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>A close trading relationship benefits both the UK and EU Member States, and we want the broadest and deepest possible partnership – covering more sectors and co-operating more fully than any Free Trade Agreement anywhere in the world today. We want to have the greatest possible tariff- and barrier-free trade with our European neighbours, as well as to negotiate our own trade agreements around the world. As the Prime Minister stated in her Mansion House speech, this means we do not want to see the introduction of any tariffs or quotas.</p> more like this
