From the Department’s formation on 14th July 2016 to date, it has incurred direct costs of £7.9m on consultancy services. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/11/2018 answer text <p>We understand the concerns of UK citizens in regards to their rights to own boats in EU member states after the UK leaves the EU.</p><p>To ensure that citizens and businesses in the UK and across the EU can plan for life after our withdrawal with confidence, we have agreed an implementation period that will last for 21 months beginning on exit day until 31 December 2020. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/09/2018 answer text <p>We recognise that our new relationship with the EU means that we will no longer be members of the Single Market and will therefore have a different relationship with that market from the end of 2020.</p><p>We want to facilitate continued cross-border provision of legal services between the UK and the EU. To ensure that citizens and businesses in the UK and across the EU can plan for life after our withdrawal with confidence, this sets out the terms of an implementation period during which EU citizens and UK nationals will be able to sail into EU waters as they do now.</p><p>The UK Government sees no reason why UK boaters should see any change as a result of the UK’s exit from the EU. For the most part, it is the rules and regulations of coastal states that apply rather than visas or EU legislation, and maritime transport is liberalised at the international level.</p><p>The Political Declaration on the Framework for the Future Relationship between the EU and the UK Government is clear that connectivity in the maritime transport sector will be underpinned by the international legal framework. The paper ‘Implications for Business and Trade of a No Deal Exit on 29 March 2019’ explains that leaving the European Union without a deal on 29 March 2019 would have a variety of effects on business, trade and the economy, and despite government mitigation, the impact of a 'no deal' scenario is expected to be significant in a number of areas. As a Government, we do not want ‘no deal’, however it is only prudent that we ensure businesses are as prepared as possible for every outcome.</p><p>The priorities and concerns of SMEs are taken seriously by Government. DExEU Ministers have attended the SME Advisory Board, chaired by BEIS. That remains the goal on both sides and we are confident that this will be achieved. But it is the job of a responsible Government to prepare for all scenarios, including the unlikely event that we reach March 2019 without agreeing a deal.</p><p>We have already carried out very significant ‘no deal’ preparations and on 23 August we published 25 technical notices, intended to inform people, businesses and stakeholders about steps they may need to take in the event of a ‘no deal’ scenario. These were the first in a series of updates which we will be publishing over the coming weeks.</p><p>This does not reflect an increased likelihood of ‘no deal;’ an acceleration at this point was long-planned to ensure plans are in place by March 2019 in the unlikely scenario they are needed.
