	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/02/2017 answer text <p>In September, the Secretary of State for Environment announced a ban on trade in worked ivory from the last 70 years, making the UK rules on ivory amongst the toughest in the world. We will be consulting shortly on these plans.</p><p> </p><p>Our consultation will also seek evidence on the benefits and impacts of taking further action, and we welcome evidence from all stakeholders in response to our consultation. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/03/2017 answer text <p>Local authorities already have the powers to issue fixed penalty notices of £20 to drivers who allow their vehicle engines to run unnecessarily while the vehicle is stationary, using powers under the Road Traffic (Vehicle Emissions) (Fixed Penalty) (England) Regulations 2002, and are able to use signage to discourage idling. Local authorities can also voluntarily introduce Clean Air Zones should they wish to do so using their powers under the Transport Act 2000. Under the Act, the Mayor may direct the boroughs in the Greater London area concerning how they should assess and prioritise action in their areas.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is firmly committed to improving the UK’s air quality and cutting harmful roadside emissions. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/12/2021 answer text <p>Annex 14 of UK REACH (the Authorisation List) lists substances of very high concern that cannot be used after a specified ‘sunset date’ unless an authorisation has been applied for and been granted. As part of its recent draft recommendation for substances that are a priority for adding to Annex 14, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recommended that no action on tetraethyllead is needed under UK REACH at the moment. The HSE set out that it may be appropriate to revisit the regulatory approach to tetraethyllead when technical evaluations of potential alternatives are completed, as none are currently available. This is expected to happen by the mid-2020s. As the process for recommending substances for Annex 14 prioritisation is a regular one, the regulatory approach to tetraethyllead will be reassessed in future prioritisation rounds.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for Transport is working to encourage industry to transfer to cleaner aviation fuels where possible.
