These primarily consist of correspondence to Ministers from individuals and interested organisations calling for the Government to act in this area.</p><p> </p><p>On 21 September the Secretary of State announced plans for a ban on sales of items containing ivory dated between 1947 and the present day, putting UK rules on ivory sales among the world’s toughest. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/10/2016 answer text <p>Since 2008, the Water Vole Database and Mapping Project has managed and stored water vole survey records, as well collating data on American mink. This has enabled mapping of this data and effective use of the datasets for the benefit of water vole populations. The map on page 66 of the 2014 report, found at <a href="http://www.wildlifetrusts.org/watervole-project" target="_blank">http://www.wildlifetrusts.org/watervole-project</a>, indicates a thriving population of water vole in the Lindsey Marshes. The data for East Lindsey can be requested from the Lincolnshire Environmental Records Centre.</p><p> </p><p>The project does not itself involve assessing the effect of one species on another but the presence of American mink is the most significant factor in the decline of the water vole. The import of hunting trophies of endangered species into the UK is subject to strict controls. A permit will only be issued if no detrimental impact on the sustainability of endangered species is demonstrated and the trophy has been obtained from a legal and sustainable hunting operation. It is for local authorities to use the full range of enforcement powers available to tackle fly-tipping in their areas. We have recently strengthened these powers by introducing fixed penalty notices for small scale fly-tipping and enhancing the ability of local authorities to search and seize vehicles of suspected fly-tippers. We have also consulted on proposals to introduce a new fixed penalty for householders who pass their waste to a fly-tipper. As two thirds of fly-tipping contains household waste, these additional measures will give local authorities another tool to tackle fly-tipping.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The 2016/17 fly-tipping statistics for England were published last October. The statistics show a year-on-year increase in the number of fly-tipping incidents over the last five years. The statistics cover all local authorities and so represent both urban and rural areas. They are available publically and can be found here: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/fly-tipping-in-england" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/fly-tipping-in-england</a>.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We engage with a variety of local authorities and the Local Government Association through the Defra-chaired National Fly-tipping Prevention Group (NFTPG) and work flowing from that. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/03/2017 answer text <p>In December 2015 the Government announced that it would require five cities (Birmingham, Derby, Leeds, Nottingham and Southampton) to implement a Clean Air Zone.</p><p> </p><p>A Clean Air Zone defines an area where targeted action is taken to improve air quality and where resources are prioritised and coordinated to deliver improved health benefits and support economic growth in the urban environment.
