answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/03/2019 answer text <p>As at 31 January 2019, there were 200 commitments in England entered into the Apprenticeship Service, where the transfer of funds between apprenticeship service accounts has been approved (a commitment is where a potential apprentice, who is expected to go on to start an apprenticeship, has been recorded with the Apprenticeship Service). Of these transferred commitments as at 31 January 2019, there were 130 transferred commitments that had materialised into apprenticeship starts. Many levy-paying employers are headquartered in one region but operate across the country meaning that we cannot attribute levy-funds transferred in individual locations. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/02/2019 answer text <p>We spend around £600 million every year ensuring 1.5 million infants in reception, year 1 and year 2 receive a free, nutritious meal at lunchtime. This ensures pupils are well nourished, develop healthy eating habits and can concentrate and learn.</p><p>We know that a balanced and nutritious meal, which includes vegetables and fruit, is good for the health and well-being of children. By showing that more children are eating a school meal we are confident that our universal infant free school meal (UIFSM) policy is having a positive impact on children. We expect UIFSMs to bring longer term benefits for children’s health by instilling early in life healthy eating habits which will be carried forward into later years.</p><p>Shared mealtimes are great for learning to talk, behave, take turns, be polite and share. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/02/2019 answer text <p>The Department is aware of the issues with gas supply at Little Ilford School, which was rebuilt under phase one of the Priority School Building Programme and which opened in its new building in 2016.</p><p>Air was seeping into the gas system, resulting in a lack of gas. Major work was carried out on the school’s gas pipework in summer 2018, which initially resolved the issue until late in the autumn term. The contractor, Wates, carried out testing over a weekend in January and reported blockages in the gas taps, caused by items including pencils and chewing gum. Wates recommended that the faulty taps should be replaced or repaired.</p><p>The faulty gas outlets have now been replaced and repaired by the school and they have been advised to regularly check for blockages to prevent this issue reoccurring. This appears to have resolved the issue, but the Department continues to work with the school to monitor the situation and provide advice and training. We want that contribution to continue and we are confident – given the world-class quality of our higher education sector – that it will. We welcome international students and there continues to be no limit on the number who can come here to study, nor any plans to limit any institution’s ability to recruit them.</p><p> </p><p>The UK remains a highly attractive destination for non-EU students, with their numbers remaining at record highs – over 170,000 non-EU entrants to UK higher education institutions for the seventh year running. The UK is a world-leading destination for study, with 4 universities in the world’s top 10 and 16 in the top 100 – second only to the USA. We actively promote study in the UK through the GREAT Campaign and to over 100 countries through the British Council.</p><p> </p><p>That is why the government announced on 21 January that an international education strategy will be produced by the Department for Education and the Department for International Trade in 2019. The strategy will set out the government’s ambition for international education, in which international students play a key role, and plans to support the sector in driving growth in education exports.</p><p> </p><p>In the Immigration White Paper, published on 19 December 2018, the UK government proposed to increase the post-study leave period for international students following completion of studies to 12 months for those completing a PhD, and to 6 months for all full-time postgraduate students and undergraduate students at institutions with degree awarding powers.
