To help schools implement the teachers’ pay award, the Department for Education is investing an additional £105 million into the existing Teachers’ Pay Grant this financial year. To help tackle digital exclusion, from 2020, we will fully fund adults with no or low digital skills to undertake new improved digital qualifications free of charge. A phased roll out commenced in September 2018 with the official national launch in April 2019. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/08/2019 answer text <p>The department is keen to make the system easier to navigate for young people considering taking technical and vocational routes and has therefore conducted extensive research with over 2,000 young people, colleges and career advisers. While the research indicated that young people would value a central source of information as they make decisions about their next steps, it did not show that they found the application process itself challenging.</p><p>As a result, the department is focusing first on ensuring young people have the right information on all of their options, including on technical education and apprenticeships. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/08/2019 answer text <p>As at 23 July 2019, there are six independent schools sponsoring a total of 13 academies. All of these independent schools were approved as sponsors prior to 2017.</p><p>Of the free schools we have opened since 2017, the London Academy of Excellence (LAE) in Tottenham was set up by an independent school, Highgate School. LAE Tottenham is supported by Highgate School, as well as eight other leading independent partner schools.</p><p>The school’s sister school, LAE Stratford, was set up by Brighton College in 2012. The school reported that in the 2018/19 academic year, 26 students received offers from Oxford or Cambridge. This is an outstanding achievement, especially in a geographic area with relatively low Oxbridge destinations.</p><p>The Department has a joint understanding with the Independent Schools Council to encourage more independent schools to work in partnership with state-funded schools across four key areas: governance, teaching, curriculum and targeted school improvement. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/07/2019 answer text <p>It is not a condition for universities to become involved in academy sponsorship or the founding of free schools in order for them to charge maximum tuition fees.</p><p>All higher education (HE) providers in England that register with the Office for Students (OfS) and want to charge more than the basic annual amount for tuition must have an Access and Participation Plan approved by the OfS. Through these plans, providers set out what activities they intend to take to ensure students from disadvantaged backgrounds or under-represented groups can access, participate, succeed and progress from HE.</p><p>The Schools that Work for Everyone consultation asked how we could best harness the resources and expertise of those in the HE sector to widen access to these institutions for disadvantaged pupils, and to work in partnership to lift attainment across the wider school system. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/07/2019 answer text <p>From September 2019, primary schools will be encouraged to follow the new relationships education curriculum and compliance will be compulsory from September 2020.</p><p>Ofsted’s role, in relation to schools, is to provide an independent assessment of their effectiveness on a range of matters. This includes the breadth, balance and ambition of the school’s curriculum.</p><p>As set out in Ofsted’s published School Inspection Handbook, from September 2019, inspectors will take account of the relationships education taught in each school as part of an evaluation of pupils’ personal development. Inspectors will also take account of the religious education taught, as part of assessing the quality of education provided by the school.</p><p>It is not Ofsted’s role to inspect denominational religious education in faith schools as part of its inspections.
