<p>The government keeps the legal framework for academies under review to ensure that
it remains fit for purpose. The department also engages with stakeholders and listens
to proposals from them to improve its effectiveness.</p><p>The department introduced
revised versions of the academies model funding agreement in March 2018 and has recently
published revised model articles of association for Church of England and Catholic
academies.</p><p>In addition, each year, the government reviews the Academies Financial
Handbook and the Academies Accounts Direction to ensure that the guidance remains
relevant and fit for purpose. This is also an opportunity to respond to criticism
such as a lack of disclosure on Related Party Transaction, where from 1 April 2019,
the requirements are being substantially amended.</p><p>The Academies Financial Handbook
and the Academies Accounts Direction, the Academies Articles of Association for Catholic
Academies are attached. The academies model funding agreement, as well as the minority
and majority Articles of Association for Church of England Academies will be deposited
in the Libraries of both Houses.</p>
