answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/01/2018 answer text <p>There are currently two independent trusts established with support from this department: the Doncaster Children’s Service Trust (established in October 2014) and Slough Children’s Services Trust (established in September 2015). The department paid £2.9 million and £3.3 million towards set up costs for Doncaster and Slough respectively.</p><p> </p><p>Sunderland County Council established a community interest company, Together for Children, in April 2017. The department’s contribution to the set up costs for this company was £2.5 million.</p><p> </p><p>‘Achieving for Children’ (AfC) is also a community interest company that was established in 2014 to provide services for Richmond and Kingston. It was established independently from the department and we did not contribute to its set up. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/01/2018 answer text <p>The government issued statutory guidance in 2011 for local authorities about supporting family and friends providing care for children who cannot live with their parents. The guidance makes it clear that children and young people should receive the support that they and their carers need to safeguard and promote their welfare. It explains that support, including financial support, can be provided under section 17 of the Children Act 1989. There is no limit on the level of support, including financial support, that local authorities can provide. The guidance does not specifically address the issue of supporting more than one child or where the family have their own children. However, these factors will be taken into account in the assessment of need of the family. The consultation opened on 14 December 2017 and closes on 22 February 2018.</p><p>We plan to publish the revised guidance, for information, early in the summer term 2018. This will give schools and colleges adequate time to review their policies and procedures and make any changes necessary to meet the requirements before the guidance comes into force in September 2018.</p><p>The hon. Member may wish to be aware that we have also published separate advice on sexual violence and sexual harassment between children in schools and colleges. This defines what sexual violence and sexual harassment is, how to minimise the risks of it happening and how to manage reports of incidents. One of the key principles of the legislation which underpins the UK’s child protection system is that children are best looked after within their families, but that is not always possible. As a last resort, after other steps have failed, local authorities may apply to the independent courts for a decision about removing a child from his or her family – for the child’s safety. It is for individual ITT providers to use their professional judgement to determine the content, structure, and proportion of courses that relate to special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).</p><p>However, courses must be designed so that teacher trainees can demonstrate that they meet all of the Teachers' Standards at the appropriate level. The Standards set out the key elements of effective teaching and the minimum expectations for the professional practice and conduct of teachers.
