The consultation seeks to achieve a balance between enabling growth in the society lottery sector, while also protecting the unique position of the UK-wide National Lottery, which has raised over £39 billion for good causes since it started in 1994.</p><p> </p><p>In terms of supporting the National Lottery, work has begun with the Gambling Commission on preparations for the next licence competition, and this year is an important one for the National Lottery in marking its 25th Anniversary. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/01/2019 answer text <p>The De Minimis Assessment which accompanied the society lotteries reform consultation outlined the assessments made of the benefits to good causes of the proposals to increase sales and prize limits, including increasing the per draw prize limit to £1 million (link: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/720931/society_lottery_dma_pdf_final.pdf).</p><p> </p><p>The assessment shows that increasing these limits in line with the Government’s preferred options is likely to increase the amount of money charities and others can raise for the good causes they support. We are not in a position to quantify this at present, as we do not know how many large society lotteries will increase their sales and prize limits, or change their business models to account for the changes being proposed.</p><p> </p><p>I am currently considering the views expressed in the consultation, from meeting with stakeholders and members, including those in favour and those against these reforms, and I hope to respond in the first half of the year. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/12/2017 answer text <p>We have invested heavily in Essex with over £13 million of central government funding allocated to support superfast rollout; local bodies and European funds have also matched this with over £13 million to the project. On the ground, delivery is managed on a day-to-day basis by Superfast Essex (http://www.superfastessex.org/) our local delivery partner. Superfast coverage in Essex has risen from under 35% in 2010 to over 91%, with current delivery continuing until March 2020 and a further procurement underway.</p><p> </p><p>At Autumn Budget 2017, the Government launched a £190 million Local Full Fibre Networks challenge fund to stimulate commercial investment in full fibre networks. Local bodies in Essex are able to bid for funding in the current round until 26th January 2018.</p><p> </p><p>We also announced £160 million at Budget for the next phase of funding for the 5G Testbeds &amp; Trials Programme, including projects to test 5G applications and deployment on roads and the security of 5G networks. In October 2017, the Government launched a £25 million competition to select a number of 5G projects to be funded in 2018-19. We believe that we will see the best outcome for the UK if we fund the strongest projects wherever they are.
