	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/12/2017 answer text <p>On 14 December, Disney and the 21st Century Fox announced details of an agreement for the sale of 21st Century Fox to Disney. This includes its interests in two major UK Media companies Sky PLC and Endemol/Shine. 21st Century Fox currently remains as the bidder for Sky PLC and Disney and 21st Century Fox confirmed in their joint announcement that they want the 21st Century Fox bid for Sky - announced in December 2016 – to continue. The current Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) inquiry into the Fox/Sky merger will therefore continue.</p><p>The CMA are of course fully aware of the Disney bid and it is for them to consider how to account for this development in their inquiry. The CMA are due to publish their interim findings on the merger in mid-January and provide their final report by 6 March. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/02/2018 answer text <p>Government is committed to building a shared society that works for everyone and it is important to build and strengthen the bonds of the family unit. DCMS is running a number of programmes that contribute to strengthening families. These include the Early Years Social Action Fund and Community Organisers Programme.</p><p> </p><p>The £1 million Early Years Social Action Fund is a joint partnership between Nesta and the Office for Civil Society and will focus on supporting families in need.. The fund aims to help more children aged four and under, achieve their developmental milestones through social action. The fund is backing projects where social action will build the confidence and knowledge of parents and primary carers, to support their children to achieve their developmental milestones ahead of their fifth birthday.</p><p> </p><p>Community Organisers act as local leaders, bringing people together to take action on the things they all care about. The original programme (2011-15) trained 6,500 individuals who built relationships and inspired local communities to deliver positive social change. Communities were supported to kick start over 2,000 community projects and our evaluation has shown us that 84% of the projects focused on connecting people together, including neighbours, residents, families and vulnerable people. In 2017 we launched the Community Organisers Expansion Programme which aims to further increase the number of Community Organisers trained to 10,000 by 2020.</p><p> </p><p>DCMS also has responsibility for Libraries, which change lives for the better. They not only provide access to books and other literature but also help people to help themselves and improve their opportunities, bring people together, and provide practical support and guidance. As a locally accountable service, they are well-placed to respond to local needs and issues.</p><p> </p><p>Libraries can have a critical role in helping people to realise their potential, and especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Libraries provide vital support to families in developing children’s language and reading skills and confidence from early years onwards They also run numerous activities like book groups, code clubs, discussion groups and events for children and families. Libraries are places where communities and individuals can develop, share ideas and learn together, and libraries are actively looking at how they could offer more and different family learning opportunities. This year DCMS introduced a KPI on the number of unfilled places in the NCS Trust’s performance management framework. In 2017 we also worked with the Trust to improve the accuracy of target-setting and commissioning which means that the number of places commissioned is better matched to actual demand. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/12/2017 answer text <p>Protecting children and the vulnerable from being harmed or exploited by gambling is a core objective of the regulation of gambling in Great Britain, and a priority for the government. Operators offering gambling services to people in Great Britain must have a licence from the Gambling Commission and must have effective policies and procedures designed to prevent underage gambling.</p><p> </p><p>The Gambling Commission has a range of powers to act where there is a failure to prevent underage gambling. These include powers to suspend or revoke a licence, impose financial penalties or launch criminal action. The Commission is closely monitoring the convergence between video games and gambling and has shown it will take action and prosecute unlicensed gambling on in-game items such as skins.</p><p> </p><p>The government published a consultation on gaming machines and social responsibility in October. This includes measures to strengthen protections around online gambling and gambling advertising. Projects apply directly to Sport England for funding and are then assessed against a range of criteria. Both the Families Fund and Potentials Fund are still in the early stages of investment and Sport England will work with successful projects to understand their reach and impact as they are rolled out.</p><p> </p><p>16 awards totalling over £2.1m have so far been made from the Potentials Fund. This was announced in November 2017.</p><p> </p><p>Sport England is currently assessing applications to the Families Fund which will make available awards of between £50,000-£500,000. We are ​also ​working ​closely ​with the Cabinet Office on ​improving ​social mobility through the Civil Service Diversity and Inclusion Strategy which was launched ​in October​ 2017.</p><p> </p><p>DCMS has ​also ​made significant investments into programmes that help young people develop skills outside school, and participate in their communities.
