answer text <p>Prior to leaving their Service all Armed Forces personnel, regardless of whether they have dependents, are entitled to a wide-ranging resettlement package which assists them to make a successful transition to civilian life. This package includes advice on housing and financial options and can be supplemented by independent financial advice.<br><br>The Ministry of Defence (MOD) works closely with the Department for Communities and Local Government and Devolved Administrations to ensure that Service personnel do not experience any disadvantage as a result of their military service when applying for social housing. The MOD Referrals Scheme assists Service leavers, and their families, with social housing applications following discharge.<br><br><br>In terms of mortgage applications, we have launched the £200 million Forces Help to Buy scheme to encourage and support home ownership among Service personnel, both for those in Service and for those preparing to leave. This scheme is available to all eligible personnel, regardless of whether they have dependants.<br><br>The MOD has also provided support to the Riverside Veteran Housing Research Project’s scheme for ex-Service personnel; the Mike Jackson House in Aldershot (which accepts dependents) and the Beacon at Catterick. These focus on helping individuals at risk of homelessness to develop independent living skills and find suitable permanent accommodation, training and employment.</p>

Individuals cease to be entitled to occupy Service Accommodation when they leave the Services. If necessary, the MOD take action to recover possession of such property. <br><br>The level of notice to be given in each case is set out in the Tri-Service Accommodation Regulations, published as Joint Service Publication 464. In most cases, individuals are entitled to 93 days notice to vacate. However, in some circumstances, including medical discharges and compulsory redundancies, this entitlement can be extended by a further 93 days. The shortest entitlement for personnel dismissed for disciplinary or misconduct reasons is 28 days.<br><br>In the last twelve months, the MOD has applied for eviction orders in 20 cases. All eviction notices were served when unentitled occupants were still resident in the property.</p> more like this

No formal assessment of the effectiveness of these new arrangements has been made at this early stage. <br><br>Monthly reports outlining the DIO’s performance are reviewed by the Defence Board which has Ministerial attendance. answer text <p>The Medical Employment Standards Working Group (MESWG) is a body composed of specialist occupational physicians from all three Services which meets at least six times a year, keeping military medical standards for recruits under regular periodic review.</p><p>Recent medical policy changes, for example, include relaxing the dental criteria for recruitment and the policy on Asperger’s, allowing a minimal degree of relaxation for those candidates who do not display classic symptoms of the syndrome or where their diagnosis may be in doubt.</p> more like this

Careful selection, approval and close observation of targets prior to a strike and the use of precision guided munitions, such as Brimstone and Paveway IV, minimises collateral damage and the potential for civilian casualties.</p> more like this

answer text <p>At the Wales Summit, the UK proposed that all Allies sign up publicly for the first time ever to the NATO target of spending 2% of GDP on defence, and to a range of other metrics including ensuring that 20% of that figure is spent on new capabilities. We secured this objective along with agreement that Allies would review national progress annually and that this would be discussed at future Defence Ministerial meetings and reviewed by Heads of State and Government at future Summits. Between now and the next formal Defence Ministerial in June 2015 we will be engaging with Allies and NATO to ensure the commitments we all agreed at Newport are put in place and reported against. Despite the deficit this Government inherited, we have consistently met and indeed exceeded the target and will continue to do so until the end of the spending review period.</p> more like this
