star this property answer text <p>The Shipbuilding pipeline holds funding at a portfolio level for projects announced in the National Shipbuilding Strategy. As projects mature funding allocations are made from the pipeline budget against these projects. The Type 32 programme has not yet reached the level of maturity for full budget allocation and concept funding has been spent thus far, estimated at approximately £4 million to date. This is consistent with a programme of this size and complexity at this stage in its development.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The US issued a Technical Order to inspect the Fin-terminal fitting pins on all C-135 aircraft variants for non-conforming parts. The inspections had no impact on operational capability or availability of the UK Rivet Joint Fleet as all inspections were conducted within normal maintenance events between sorties. All UK Rivet Joint aircraft were inspected with no issues identified, and all UK aircraft were cleared for flight.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The In-Service Date for the Wedgetail capability, including dates for delivery of all three aircraft, will be published in the Full Business Case expected for submission in the first part of 2024. There have been some delays to the aircraft delivery schedule, due to contractor performance and a combination of shortages in materials, parts and skills which are being felt across the global aviation industry. Additionally, the contractor has underestimated the complex and increased assurance activity required to enable flight certification following Boeing 737 MAX aircraft accident investigations. We are working closely with Boeing to minimise the adverse impact of these challenges.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Both members of the Armed Forces and civil servants may be appointed as Senior Responsible Owners for Defence programmes on the Government Major Projects Portfolio.</p><p>For members of the Armed Forces, Senior Responsible Owners are selected through Appointment Boards. The Board will examine the job specification for the role and match an appropriate individual based on past experience and proven skills and qualifications.</p><p>Civil Servants are appointed through open and fair competition. Selection interviews will be undertaken by senior leaders and routinely include the MOD's Chief Project Officer or an accredited Project Professional. However, in some circumstances it may be appropriate, due to the business need, to move an individual with specific knowledge, skills and experience into a Senior Responsible Owner role.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Our working animals provide an invaluable service to our troops, and every effort is made to rehome them at the end of their service life. Decisions are taken by the Military Working Animal rehoming board following an extensive assessment of the animals and any potential new home. Sadly, there are some occasions where it is not possible to rehome an animal safely. Service animals are only euthanised for one of two reasons; either due to a veterinary condition causing unnecessary suffering or because the animal poses an unacceptable risk to public safety.</p><p> </p><p>Collation and verification of Military Working Animal End of Service data, including information on deaths and euthanasia, is undertaken annually. The below table reflects the number of Military Working Dogs (MWDs) and Military Working Horses (MWHs) euthanised in the calendar years 2018 to 2022.
