This includes work to sustain an internationally competitive and productive UK Defence sector and grow exports and inward investment. In the past two years, we have published strategies for Shipbuilding and Combat Air and refreshed our Defence Industrial Policy with a new emphasis on supporting growth and competitiveness.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government’s National Shipbuilding Strategy was clear that for reasons of national security warships must be built in the UK.</p><p>Fleet solid support ships do not fall under the National Shipbuilding Strategy definition of a warship. All non-Warships are procured through international competition to secure best value for money.</p><p>We have encouraged UK shipyards to participate in the competition and have been pleased with the positive engagement so far.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Typhoon Enhanced Collision Awareness System (ECAS) will exploit all aircraft sensors, including the aircraft radar, to provide the best possible situational awareness of aircraft that may be in the vicinity. In the case of AIRPROX report No. 2018061, the existing Typhoon aircraft radar indicated the presence of traffic and one of the Hawks was visually identified by the crew. Consequently, the overall risk of collision was assessed to be low. However, it is assessed that ECAS would have provided the crew with additional situational awareness of the Hawks in the vicinity of the two Typhoons.</p> more like this

Planned modifications and fleet management of the early contract F-35B aircraft will ensure that they meet the 8,000 hour service life requirement. Aircraft being delivered today incorporate these design changes in the build process to ensure they will meet 8,000 hours or more.</p> more like this

Bidders are incentivised to demonstrate how they intend to strengthen the UK supply chain through increased security of supply, supply chain capability development and the mitigation of supply chain vulnerabilities. star this property answer text <p>There was no measurable change in the alpha emitting particulate discharge from the Naval Reactor Test Establishment (NRTE). There was a measurable increase in the already very low levels of radioactive noble gases discharged; however, all discharges remained well below the levels authorised by the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency. The Shore Test Facility reactor at the NRTE ceased operations in July 2015.</p> more like this
