CCS allows members to buy gas and electricity through the wholesale energy market often purchasing energy years in advance and securing bulk purchase discounts. star this property answer text <p>Formal requests received for Defence to assist with accommodation for asylum seekers are considered in line with Military Aid to the Civil Authorities (MACA) principles.</p><p> </p><p>The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is already making part of the estate available for humanitarian purposes. As part of its contribution to Op WARM WELCOME, Defence has made available up to 550 Service Family Accommodation properties for Local Authorities to lease to provide homes for Afghan families who have a defence connection and have been relocated to the UK legally through the Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Armed Forces Act 2021 placed a duty on specific local public bodies in the areas of health, housing, and education to have due regard to the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant. The Government will report on the overall effectiveness of the Duty within five years of it coming into force, in accordance with good practice, to allow time for impacts to emerge.</p><p> </p><p>We will be working with Local Authorities and other bodies in scope of the duty to ensure they are aware of their obligations to ensure the Armed Forces Community do not face disadvantage. star this property answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence is an advisory Department to the Department of Business and Trade who are the licensing authority for strategic export controls. Export licence applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis against the UK’s Strategic Export Licensing Criteria which provides a thorough risk assessment framework and require us to carefully consider the impact of the export of items and their capabilities.</p><p> </p><p>In accordance with the Criteria, the Government will not grant a licence where it determines there is a clear risk that the items might be used to commit or facilitate a serious violation of international humanitarian law or human rights. We also do not license items where we determine there is a clear risk that the items would, overall, undermine peace and security, including internal peace and security, or there is a risk of diversion to an undesirable end use.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Defence plays a vital role in the UK's resilience, particularly in our nation's ability to anticipate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from potential emergencies and disruptive risks at home and abroad.</p><p> </p><p>Defence engages regularly with Other Government Departments, agencies and the Devolved Administrations and is fully integrated into routine cross-Government contingency planning, at both the strategic and local levels, for a wide range of scenarios. We conduct training and exercises at local resilience forum level and above to prepare for civil contingency tasks, alongside civil authorities, agencies and partners and provide input to the National Security Risk Assessment and National Resilience Capability plan.</p><p> </p><p>To enhance our ability to plan for and respond to crises in conjunction with Other Government Departments, Defence has a permanent military liaison officer embedded in the Cabinet Office Civil Contingencies Secretariat and a well-established regional liaison network that interfaces with local government and public service providers across the UK.</p><p> </p><p>Consequently, Defence is well-prepared to respond to crises when called upon to do so, either as the lead department or in support of Other Government Departments.</p>
