We are determined to get more people from under-represented groups including women and ethnic minorities taking part in sport and physical activity and to remove any barrier that prevents them from doing so. The Games left a legacy of increased participation and world-class sporting venues which are now being used by our elite athletes as well as local communities.</p><p> </p><p>The commitment from the Government immediately following the London 2012 Olympic Games to confirm and sustain Exchequer support for the UK Sport World Class Programme was a significant moment in underpinning the success of Rio, providing UK Sport, and the National Governing Bodies of sport, with the necessary financial support to invest in medal success across the Olympic and Paralympic sports.</p><p> </p><p>I am confident that this success will continue at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, and through to Tokyo in 2020 and beyond. The National Coastal Tourism Academy in Bournemouth, part funded by Government through the Coastal Communities Fund, was set up in 2013 to partner with tourism businesses to help them reach their commercial potential and provide the best possible experiences for their visitors. Sports fans are entitled to be sure that what they are watching is true and fair with all athletes competing on a level playing field. We are grateful for the investigative journalism by the Sunday Times for bringing these apparent abuses to light, and we have asked for there to be an urgent independent investigation into what action was taken when these allegations were first received and what more needs to be done to ensure that British sport remains clean. The Government is also looking at whether existing legislation in this area goes far enough. This information is freely available on WADA's website.</p><p> </p><p>In the UK, Athletes and Athlete Support Personnel receive information about changes to the Prohibited List through communications from UK Anti-Doping.
