As such, Ministers and officials have been directed to consider the issue for consultation, which will be published in due course.</p><p><del class="ministerial">The public have a right to know who is funding campaigning and legislation in the context of Brexit.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Ministers believe this to be particularly pertinent in light of public concerns raised about the funding of campaigning and legislation against Brexit.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">I further refer the Hon. Member to a letter sent by the Cabinet Secretary to the Rt. Hon. Member for Beaconsfield (Dominic Grieve); a copy of this letter will be deposited in the library of both Houses.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">I also refer him to the answer to the Hon. We are currently reviewing the responses and we will issue a response in due course.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Electoral Commission is the independent regulatory body responsible for ensuring that elections and referendums are run effectively and in accordance with the law. Where it has reason to believe that electoral law has been breached it has the power to investigate, impose sanctions, or refer to the police. The Government has no involvement with Electoral Commission investigations. The Electoral Commission has produced recommendations on campaign finance which the Government is considering. These are not specific to individual cases but are about the wider system.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Article 50 notification will not be withdrawn. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/06/2020 answer text <p>We are mindful of the importance and value of young people being able to contribute their views on how the Government, and the country, can collectively tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.</p><p>Notwithstanding, I would note that members of the public who ask questions, particularly those who are filmed, place themselves in the public eye to a significant extent – both on television, but also subsequently are subject to comment on social media.</p><p>There are practical issues with children being subjected to such scrutiny, without parental consent and involvement. As it stands, parents and carers can ask questions on behalf of under-18s as a way for them to participate in the daily press conferences.</p><p>The Government is actively considering alternative options for under-18s to submit questions to ministers. In addition to the pilots, we have consulted, and will continue to consult with a broad range of charities and civil society organisations, to make sure that voter ID will work for everybody.</p><p>Based on the evaluations of the independent Electoral Commission and the Cabinet Office there is no indication that the ID requirement negatively affected the intention to vote for any consistent specific demographic group across the pilot authorities.</p><p>Showing ID is something people of all backgrounds already do every day, for example to take out a library book, claim benefits or pick up a parcel from the post office. Proving who you are before you make a decision of huge importance at the ballot box should be no different.
